Basics

Computers are used to generate random sequences of moves that makes a scramble. Diffrent scramble generators are used for diffrent puzzles, see; WCA-regulations for a list of the generators that are used for official competitions. Also diffrent notations are used for diffrent puzzles, see the notation page if you are unfamilair with the notations used.

Scrambling cubic puzzles

For all cubic puzzles (2x2, 3x3 and so on) always hold the puzzle so the U face is white and the F face is the green colour. If those colours are not present on the cube, then you shall use the lightest colour it has for the U face and possibly green, else the darkest colour adjacent to the lightest for the F face (For the white V-Cubes it makes yellow U face and green F face).

2x2x2

To scramble a 2x2x2 you only need to turn one of the sides of each axis, U R F is enough but the official 2x2x2 scrambling is done turning all six faces.
