[[3x3x3]] scrambling is the most optimised scrambling used for any puzzle, that much thank's to [[Cube Explorer]] that is the tool used to generate official scrambles. The scramble is a random setup that the tool searches for an optimal or pseudo optiomal solution/generator for. In most other cases the classic scrambles of 25 randomly generated turns are used. To scramble just follow the general cubic puzzle rules describes above and execute the turns written as any algorithm for the 3x3x3, no special rules.

Basics

Computers are used to generate random sequences of moves that makes a scramble. Diffrent scramble generators are used for diffrent puzzles, see; WCA-regulations for a list of the generators that are used for official competitions. Also diffrent notations are used for diffrent puzzles, see the notation page if you are unfamilair with the notations used.

Scrambling cubic puzzles

For all cubic puzzles always hold it so the U face is white and the F face is the green colour. If those colours are not present on the cube, then you shall use the lightest colour it has for the U face and possibly green, else the darkest colour adjacent to the lightest for the F face (For the white V-Cubes it makes yellow U face and green F face).

2x2x2

To scramble a 2x2x2 cube you only need to turn one of the sides of each axis, U R F is enough but the official 2x2x2 scrambling is done turning all six faces. To scramble just follow the general cubic puzzle rules describes above and execute the turns written as any algorithm for the 2x2x2, no special rules.

An official 2x2x2 scramble is 25 turns long but that is much more than needed, 15-16 turns will do the same job in nearly 100% of the cases so probably we will see more effective 2x2x2 scrambling in the future.

3x3x3

3x3x3 scrambling is the most optimised scrambling used for any puzzle, that much thank's to Cube Explorer that is the tool used to generate official scrambles.
