The Rubik's Cube Speedsolving Association, (RCSA) is a non-profit organisation founded by Ernő Rubik in 2017 to promote speedsolving; to support competitions, competitors and organizers; and to introduce puzzles in education.

History

Ernő Rubik announced his intention to create the "Rubik Speedsolving Association" in December 2016, and it was filed for registration in Budapest in February 2017. He stated that it was involved in the organisation of the World Rubik's Cube Championship 2017 securing additional sponsorship for the event.

In October 2017 the Rubik's Cube Speedsolving Association found itself mired in controversy when it arranged a new tournament with Red Bull Mindgamers in collaboration with Rubik's Brand. This "Red Bull Rubik's World Championship" was seen by the cubing community as an attempt to exclude the WCA and create a separate world championship under the control of Rubik's Brand. The announcement came at the same time as Rubik’s Brand filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against TheCubicle online store over its speedcubes.

The Red Bull Rubik's Cube World Championship duly took place in 2018, but in 2019 Red Bull rebranded their event to the "Red Bull Rubik’s Cube World Cup" to avoid further controversy.
