PseudoSlotting

From Speedsolving.com Wiki
(Redirected from Pseudoslotting)

Pseudoslotting is an advanced F2L technique used by many world class cubers, most notably Tymon Kolasinski. Pseudoslotting occurs when at least 2 or 3 slots are available, a corner has to be solved in one slot and an edge has to be solved in another slot, in this case pseudoslotting can be used by pairing up the remaining corner and edge into a pseudo pair and misalign the layers to insert the pseudo pair.

The idea of how pseudoslotting works is complex, I can't explain fully here, you can watch this video here that explains everything about Pseudoslotting

Recognition

  1. Wrong Pairing
  2. Edge Orientation (or EO)

Pros

  • PseudoSlotting is an extension of F2L which is used in CFOP, ZZ, and ZB
  • Low movecount if done efficiently
  • Slightly faster than normal F2L or Advanced F2L

Cons

  • Very hard to get used to
  • sometimes a pseudo pair can be mistakenly inserted with one edge flipped because of "misrecognition"
  • PseudoSlotting case with exactly one edge solved on one slot and the other corner solved on the other slot is very rare to get

How To Do It

This example scramble(D R U' R' D') Can be PseudoSlotted by:

  1. Making an open slot by moving the D layer (D)
  2. Forming and inserting the blue-orange corner and the blue-red edge as a wrong pair (R U R')
  3. Putting the D layer back (D')
