MoYu (Chinese: 魔域) is a Chinese cube brand. They are a sub-brand of the YongJun company. The MoYu brand was created around 2012 as a platform for external designers to provide designs to YJ for production, marketing etc.[2]

Name

The name MoYu (魔域) is a combination of two words: "Mo" meaning Magic (Rubik's Cubes in China are known as Magic Cubes) and "Yu" meaning Region, Land etc. The four-character glyph 魔域文化 which is often marked on their cubes means MoYu Culture.

Products

2x2

MoYu LingPo

The MoYu LingPo is Moyu's first 2x2 cube. It is well-known for feeling as if it is a mix of the smooth DaYan ZhanChi and the crunchy Type C WitTwo. It has very bright stickers, but they are not cut to fit the pieces. It also has a white core regardless of the plastic color. This cube improves a lot with lube, more so than other cubes. It can be quite unforgiving, but it improves substantially on the WitTwo in particular since it doesn't lock up as much.

MoYu TangPo

MoYu WeiPo

Considered one of the best 2x2 cubes ever made by many cubers.

MoYu WeiPo WR/M

Released in September 2019, the WeiPo WRM has light and fast turning as well as MoYu's updated half-bright stickerless shades.

3x3

MoYu HuanYing

The MoYu HuanYing has a minimal plastic feel which makes the cube lighter than its competitors, but also makes a lot of noise when speed solving. MoYu took the torpedo design and flattened out the piece, which is different from the common torpedo structure. The stickers it came with are very bright, and good quality. It rarely pops, but if you handle it harshly the corners can twist accidentally. The interior has relatively little plastic except of what is only necessary for the cube to function. This causes the cube to be lightweight and have less friction when turning the cube. Overall it was a good speedcube, but a bit noisy.

The edge pieces have a bit of a simplistic look up until the very end of the piece: the lip on the edge piece has a curve that compliments the corner pieces. The "flattened" torpedo hugs the edge pieces to the corner pieces, and seems to reduce popping significantly. The cube locks up more since there is no breathing room in the torpedos.

The corner pieces do not show much differences from that of other cubes. It isn’t elongated like the Dayan series, but instead has a distance that seems to have the corner piece "hug" the rest of the cube. Like the edges, there is little breathing room which reduces popping but causes lock-ups.

MoYu WeiLong

The WeiLong was created after the HuanYing, and was a deliberate attempt to improve on the HuanYing. They kept the squished torpedo, adding more plastic to the interior corner pieces, and making the corner cutting better. The WeiLong resulted in a fuller cube with less clicks, and fewer lock ups while maintaining quick rotations, great corner cutting, and added stability to keep it all together.

The corner stalks are short and rounded and the base is wider to help prevent popping. Also the edge pieces are wider and have higher ridges and grooves. The corner pieces are blocky and smooth much like a GuHong. The edge pieces interlock with the centerpieces and have torpedos to further improve anti-popping. The cube is made of a hard and thick matte plastic that glides smoothly. This cube is fast and effortless but as a consequence has a reputation of being uncontrollable at high speeds and can overshoot or ruin lookahead/recognition. It cuts at 45 degrees and past on even the tightest tensions and reverse corner cuts about 2/3 of a cubie. It is very quiet when turning accurately but corner cuts loudly.

MoYu WeiLong V2

The MoYu WeiLong V2 is the second revision of the tremendously popular MoYu WeiLong. The most notable change is the way in which the pieces are put together. Other than this, the mechanism remains largely unchanged.

MoYu AoLong

The Aolong improves on the Weilong's weak points. It is known for taking the mechanism of the MoYu Aosu, which many consider to be the best 4x4 speedcube. It is much more controllable while maintaining a decent amount of speed from the Weilong, even during first turns.

Out of the box, it is very dry, and not unlike a WeiLong until you test out the corner cutting. The corner cutting is very good, with an easy 1 1/2 cubies, and 3/4 reverse. After breaking it in and lubing it, the corner cutting becomes much easier, and better, the dry feeling goes away a little (it’s still a little noisy), and it becomes very fast, though it is very easily gummed up by anything wrong, like excess lube, cube dust or water. The stickers are very durable.

MoYu LiYing

MoYu DianMa

Considered a fail by many cubers. The thin middle layer was awkward and some of the cubes had popping issues.

MoYu AoLong V2

The MoYu AoLong V2 is an updated version of the original MoYu AoLong. It was intended to reduce corner twists after Feliks Zemdegs received a DNF on a would-be world record due to a corner twist.

However, "bad" Aolongs exist due to the V2 controversy during July 2014. MoYu decided to produce the first batch of Aolong V2s with a different plastic while discontinuing the V1. Once everyone noticed how poor the performance was on the new cubes, MoYu changed the plastic on all new V2s. All new V2s are made with the proper plastic. It was regarded as a brilliant cube which set the standard for speed cubes.

MoYu HuaLong

MoYu TangLong

The MoYu TangLong was released soon after the Gans 356 to compete with it. Its main differences from the Gans is that it is more stable, and is also slightly slower.

MoYu AoLong GT

Considered a fail by many cubers, and the Aolong V2 is recommended over it. Basically a worse Aolong V2 with square corners. It also had unusual sticker shades which MoYu claimed was for the square corners.

MoYu WeiLong GTS

The MoYu WeiLong GTS was released in 2016. It is fast, and very smooth. It corner cuts nearly two pieces forward and one piece reverse, so that it rarely catches. It is designed with caps on the pieces rather than the pieces being split into multiple sections, meaning that a stickerless version would not be possible.

MoYu YuLong

This budget cube has a light, crunchy feel. The edges pop & the corners twist fairly easily when set up loose. The pieces of the stickerless version are pressed together without glue, and can fall apart when they pop out. If you're looking for an inexpensive cube with a pleasant crunch, this might work for you, despite the cheap construction.

MoYu WeiLong GTS2

The MoYu WeiLong GTS2 was realeased in 2017. It is an improvement to the GTS1 with a 3-piece corner design that allows for stickerless versions, and a slightly better feel to the previous. It was widely considered one of the best speedcubes after its release.

Moyu Weilong GTS3/3M/3LM

released May-September 2018, these cubes feature a new system in which it is possible to easily change the spring compression and therefore control how fast you want the cube to be, certainly one of the best cubes on the market as of september 2018.

Moyu Weilong WR/WR M

Released 4/3/2019, is a GTS3 without ridges

MoYu BoChuang GT

The MoYu BoChuang GT 5x5 was released in 2016 to compete with the popular YuXin 5x5. Its performance is extremely similar to that of the YuXin, and the cubing community was kind of split about what they preferred. Some preferred the BoChuang because of its better stability, whereas others preferred the YuXin because of its faster turning.
