Lock-up happens when layers of the puzzle get out of alignment.

Less severe lock-ups can be fixed by realigning the layers.

More severe lock-ups cause parts of the puzzle to be twisted in unnatural ways, creating gaps and causing the entire puzzle to be stuck.
