Layer

The term layer refers to any complete movable "slice" of a twisty puzzle. All pieces in the same layer can move together.

A layer is different from a face. Rather than just including the stickers of one side of a twisty puzzle, a layer includes all of the stickers on all of the pieces of a movable slice.
