E2CR2 (Edge orientation + Left block, 2x2x3, Corner permutation, Right block, 2GLL) is a method which could be seen as a mix between ZZ and Roux, although due to effectively solving an EO223 in the beginning, it also shares similarities with Petrus and LEOR.

E2CR2's ergonomics are excellent both for 2-handed solving and One-handed solving after the EOFB stage. After the EOFB step the cube can be solved only using r, R, U and D moves. And once the CP step is done, the cube is completely reduced to only R and U moves.

Steps

  • 1. EO + FB/LB: Solve EO and build a 1x2x3 Block on the left side of the cube.
  • 2. 2x2x3 Extend the 1x2x3 block to 2x2x3 block by solving the DF and DB edges.
  • 3. CP place the remaining D layer corners in the D layer without caring about the orientation or permutation. Then solve the CP with 1 of 4 algorithms
  • 4. SB/RB: Build a second 1x2x3 block on the right side of the cube.

5. 2GLL - Solve the last layer using one of 85 algorithms.

Pros

  • Ergonomics are excellent allowing for faster turning.
  • Look ahead is also great once the FB is solved.

Cons

  • Planning EOFB can be difficult to get used to. But it can be achieved.
  • Recognising CP in between a solve might not be good, but it is manageable.
