Akimoto is a columns first direct solving method for the 4x4x4 cube, proposed by Masayuki Akimoto. It is somewhat similar to K4 and Cage.

Overview

  1. Create 4 F3L pairs in a similar way to PCMS
  2. Solve the U layer apart from the UF dedge
  3. Finish centres (similar to the cage method though more flexibility is allowed thanks to the unsolved D-layer)
  4. Solve the UF dedge
  5. Solve the D layer (this step is the same as in K4)
    • Solve the corners
    • Solve the dedges
