The 8x8x8 cube (normally referred to as the 8x8x8 or 8x8) is a twisty puzzle in the shape of a cube that is cut seven times along each of three axes. The first brand of this puzzle was the V-Cube (V-cube 8), whose inventer, Panagiotis Verdes, patented. Many other cube companies, as Shengshou have produced puzzles very similar, but these are considered knock-offs due to using the same basic mechanism. The V Cube 8 is rounded (or 'pillowed') because it is mathematically impossible to make a perfectly cubical 8x8x8 cube with even layers without any kind of magnets or locking mechanism, as the corners would fall off.

Shengshou have made a cubic 8x8x8 (a bigger external layer), and it has become very popular.

This puzzle has 6 fixed centers, a total of 210 other center pieces, a total of 72 edge pieces, and 8 corners.
