RoLOP Method

The RoLOP Method (an acronym for Roux blocks, Last two cross edges, OLL, and PLL) is an experimental hybrid speedsolving method designed for the 3x3x3 Rubik's Cube. It serves as an optimized, block-building alternative to traditional CFOP F2L, allowing solvers to transition from the rotationless freedom of the Roux method into a fast, algorithmic CFOP last layer finish.

Steps

1. The Ro-Phase (Roux Blocks)

The solver builds a 1x2x3 block on the left side and a matching 1x2x3 block on the right side of the cube, exactly like the first two steps of the Roux method. The middle (M) slice and the top (U) layer are kept completely free. This allows the solver to build pseudo-F2L pairs with zero whole-cube rotations and significantly fewer moves than traditional vertical slot insertions.

2. The L-Phase (Last Two White Cross Edges)

Using the open M-slice and U layer, the solver intuitively manipulates, pairs, and inserts the final two bottom cross edges (typically DF and DB) into their correct slots. This acts as a bridge that instantly converts the Roux cube state into a completed CFOP First Two Layers (F2L) state. • Example Case (L-Shape on U layer, one flipped): With a correctly oriented edge at UR and a flipped edge (white facing up) at UB, the sequence M' U M U' can be used to orient and position them cleanly before dropping them into the cross slots.

3. The O-Phase (Orientation of the Last Layer)

With the first two layers now fully solved by the L-Phase bridge, the solver executes a standard CFOP OLL algorithm to orient all the top-face stickers.

4. The P-Phase (Permutation of the Last Layer)

The solver executes a standard CFOP PLL algorithm to permute the remaining pieces, fully solving the puzzle.

Warning: This method is highly recommended for cubers with high TPS.
