Talk:Lau

This just looks like Petrus with a more restricted (and strictly slower) way to build the first 2x2x3 block. I see you posted it on Reddit and received a few comments but they only seemed to be congratulating you for making a method. You should try posting it on the Speedsolving forums too to get more input, as it is I don't think this is novel or notable enough to have a page.

User:Billabob, I appreciate the feedback, the post on reddit, while majority of the community received it well there are still criticisms that were raised and I acknowledged and responded. As per looking like Petrus, I do not entirely disagree given that anything that builds a 2x2x3 block gives its tribute to the method. There is however two distinct differences:

1) it doesn’t focus on purely building the 2x2x3 block but to make the inspection easier by just having a cross -1 and predicting the first 2 edge for the I-F2L, so it acts similar to how CFOP would build it’s blocks. Depending on how used you are to the new type of F2L you may see it as slower or even restrictive if you really value the freeFOP nature of how Petrus makes a 2x2x3 Block.

2) it doesn’t do EO, instead, its way of getting around with rotations is the easier Cross -1, the I-F2L that when you position your front in Corpus-F you won’t need rotation and the backslotting for the last F2L pair. This removes the cognitive demand of the cuber to focus on recognizing EO and instead practiced fast algorithms to end the cube.

Another is how it approached the Last Layer, it meets halfway, because it doesn’t use EO it used VHLS + COLL for EPLL to PLL skip. I noticed that in Regular CFOP the Algorithms for the LL is 78 in total but VHLS to EPLL combined is just 72, actually learning them would have increase your recognition to do otherwise bad cases.

Whether you find the idea not notable or novel enough is understand on your end as a cuber and critic and I understand, and I edited this page to account for its pros and cons. But given that those methods were made decades ago, it would be easy to see similarities of any method, especially when I designed it in such a way that consider the greats. Lastly, I made a thread awaiting for the approval. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

Given the issues with the Standard Lau, I developed the final 2 variants I prefer to be combined with the method, Lauzz and Lauzza which is a hybrid of Lau Method and ZZ.
