How bad/good is a 2:30 average for 4x4 if I average ~25 on 3x3?
Micah Morrison
I think your 4x4 average should be about 4x as slow as your 3x3 average, which means that with just a little bit of practice you could get your 4x4 average down to 1:40 ish
Etotheipi
Ok. =D I have just been practicing 4x4 for like 2 days, so Its kinda to be expected that I'm kinda slow. =P
Micah Morrison
yeah, I'd expect you'll get better soon
So, I calculated that we could store a map of all possible cube permutations, and what moves are needed to reach them, in around 80 exabytes, which is about the storage of 84 million laptops. It'd be great if we could get that much and make the map, alg generating would be so easy.

Jee, thats a lot of laptops and a lot of math, at least for my non existent math-brain
Whats a 4x4 OLL parity alg thats really easy to memorize? I don't care how long it is as long as its simple.
Cubinwitdapizza
The normal one is super simple. It goes, Rw U2 x Rw U2 Rw U2 Rw’ U2 Lw U2 Rw‘ U2 Rw U2 Rw’ U2 Rw’
Etotheipi
Ok,Ill try to memo that. I think I used to know it, but then i forgot cause i didnt do 4x4.
Etotheipi
Ok, I think I got it down, I'll drill it a bit more though.
How far into ZBLL are you? And how much of ZBLS do you know?
Aerma
Oh right, and I don't know any ZBLS.
DarkSavage
Cool! Are you planning on learning ZBLS after ZBLL?
Aerma
After ZBLL I'm going to take a big break and just practice that for a while until I know it really well. After that, I might just keep on learning 1LLL sets!

i got a .66 with the 2x2 scramble

And in race i mean a Ao5

sup what do you average on 2x2? wanna race?
GAN 356 X
I average 5.3 wish, depending on the day. Ill race! What about you?

happy birthday!
Cubinwitdapizza
I’m a Jehovahs Witness , so I don’t celebrate birthdays. If you don’t mind, go to this link and it will explain why I don’t celebrate b-days.
Wow the forums are really busy today. Kinda irrelavant but yeah...

I did get a 4x4 single of 1:02 though
GAN 356 X
I need a buddy to race to sub-1. I really need to improve my efficiency I think then I'll be better. What do you average
TheLegend12
Probably around 1:10-1:18. I'm not very consistent. I have a 1:07 single. Also, I just switched to yau last week so that is helping.
GAN 356 X
If I improve a bit could do a race to sub-1?

Could you get on hypixel so we can chat there instead of clogging the posts with non-cubing related talk?
Cubinwitdapizza
We can just do a pm on here. And no, I have a thing where I can only play one hour a day so I can’t get on today.

My Minecraft username is Rouxvolutionist, so sometimes cubers will find me when i'm on servers, and just a bit ago i met two sub-15 Roux users on Hypixel =D
OH average and singles are continuously being destroyed, just got a 26.85 and a 40.98
Etotheipi
PetrusQuber
I was kind of joking...
GAN 356 X
Nice! I never practice OH and only ahem 57 sec single and 1:12 average. I cant even execute certain algorithms a can normally do 2H
TheLegend12
Oh, I'm sorry I thought you were being serious about doing blind with Petrus. BTW i average around 45 on OH.
I get 25 seconds for f2l, how do i improve
White KB
I know this sounds cliche, but:
Practice, practice, practice!

I was able to get my F2L down to 10 seconds from 25 from committing myself to an Ao1,000, then going from there and doing another one.

GAN 356 X
Work on your efficiency, make sure you are using the best algorithms, and if you are using intuitive switch to more algorithms based solutions
Switched to Yau5 for 5x5. Already beaten my PB average and single with a 3:30 average!

Edit! After doing a quick ao5, my sixth solve became a PB by around 20 seconds! 2:52.032! I am so surprised and am feeling good about 5x5
What puzzles can you do blind? I know you can do 2-7 and SQ1 blind, but are there any others you can do? This includes non-WCA and non-NxNxN puzzles. (i.e: Pyra or Skewb)
Mike Hughey
I once attempted every event in the weekly competition blind, but that was a number of years ago, before some of the new puzzles were added. But I have done skewb, pyraminx, megaminx, magic and master magic (LOL!), and clock. There might be more, but that's all I can think of now.
Mike Hughey
I guess I could also mention 8x8x8, although that's just another NxNxN. I tried gigaminx a few times, but never got a success.
When I did every event, I included really silly things like feet BLD (I actually got an average of 5 - just one DNF!) and FMC BLD (which was incredibly silly).
GAN 356 X
That made me laugh. Gigaminx Bld would been interesting but fmc blind and feet blind is too far lol
Do you still attempt Sq-1 MBLD? I saw you had UWR with 10/10 and wondered if you ever practice it and if you are pushing to get a better result.
GAN 356 X
Mike Hughey
I am sad to say that I have lost the ability through lack of practice. But I do have the method documented, and I do hope to go back to it someday - there are some things I'd really like to achieve with it someday.
Mike Hughey
And for what it's worth, I do still use part of the memorization scheme to solve sighted square-1 - I use it to get to square. Which is horribly slow, but works, and keeps a small part of the overall method alive and practiced.
what is the best cheapist 2x2x2?
GAN 356 X
Yes, the yupo is great. Also, the MGC is even better for a few more dollars
TheLegend12
yes, I completely agree with Ganx that the Mgc is better if you have a couple of extra bucks. When I started cubing I bought all of these cheap budget cubes that were okay for me at the time but are becoming harder to use the faster I become. I would recommend saving up a couple more dollars and getting a flagship 2x2.(i hear the valk and weipo are also very good.)
CodingCuber
I also have the yupo, i think it’s great
