happy b-day!
Wow the forums are really busy today. Kinda irrelavant but yeah...

I did get a 4x4 single of 1:02 though

I need a buddy to race to sub-1. I really need to improve my efficiency I think then I'll be better. What do you average
TheLegend12

Probably around 1:10-1:18. I'm not very consistent. I have a 1:07 single. Also, I just switched to yau last week so that is helping.

If I improve a bit could do a race to sub-1?
Could you get on hypixel so we can chat there instead of clogging the posts with non-cubing related talk?

We can just do a pm on here. And no, I have a thing where I can only play one hour a day so I can’t get on today.

My Minecraft username is Rouxvolutionist, so sometimes cubers will find me when i'm on servers, and just a bit ago i met two sub-15 Roux users on Hypixel =D
OH average and singles are continuously being destroyed, just got a 26.85 and a 40.98 :)
I get 25 seconds for f2l, how do i improve

I know this sounds cliche, but:
Practice, practice, practice!

I was able to get my F2L down to 10 seconds from 25 from committing myself to an Ao1,000, then going from there and doing another one.

Hope I could answer your question!

Work on your efficiency, make sure you are using the best algorithms, and if you are using intuitive switch to more algorithms based solutions
Switched to Yau5 for 5x5. Already beaten my PB average and single with a 3:30 average!

Edit! After doing a quick ao5, my sixth solve became a PB by around 20 seconds! 2:52.032! I am so surprised and am feeling good about 5x5
What puzzles can you do blind? I know you can do 2-7 and SQ1 blind, but are there any others you can do? This includes non-WCA and non-NxNxN puzzles. (i.e: Pyra or Skewb)

I once attempted every event in the weekly competition blind, but that was a number of years ago, before some of the new puzzles were added. But I have done skewb, pyraminx, megaminx, magic and master magic (LOL!), and clock. There might be more, but that's all I can think of now.

I guess I could also mention 8x8x8, although that's just another NxNxN. I tried gigaminx a few times, but never got a success.
When I did every event, I included really silly things like feet BLD (I actually got an average of 5 - just one DNF!) and FMC BLD (which was incredibly silly).

That made me laugh. Gigaminx Bld would been interesting but fmc blind and feet blind is too far lol
Do you still attempt Sq-1 MBLD? I saw you had UWR with 10/10 and wondered if you ever practice it and if you are pushing to get a better result.

I am sad to say that I have lost the ability through lack of practice. But I do have the method documented, and I do hope to go back to it someday - there are some things I'd really like to achieve with it someday.

And for what it's worth, I do still use part of the memorization scheme to solve sighted square-1 - I use it to get to square. Which is horribly slow, but works, and keeps a small part of the overall method alive and practiced.
what is the best cheapist 2x2x2?

Yes, the yupo is great. Also, the MGC is even better for a few more dollars
TheLegend12
TheLegend12
yes, I completely agree with Ganx that the Mgc is better if you have a couple of extra bucks. When I started cubing I bought all of these cheap budget cubes that were okay for me at the time but are becoming harder to use the faster I become. I would recommend saving up a couple more dollars and getting a flagship 2x2.(i hear the valk and weipo are also very good.)

I also have the yupo, i think it’s great
Do any other school aged people use Art of Problem Solving math in school? (Or am I alone?)

Ah, I'm in 7th grade, but I'm doing a 9th grade math cause I'm a nerd. Do you know how he difference between Australian years and American grades?
Hello! I am not new to the cubing world. I first started cubing when I first got into middle school when my teacher let me play with his rubiks cube. i got my first rubiks cube last christmas. it is a rubiks brand. I only know how to to begginers method. I don't have enough money to buy real cube. Right now i am learning the ortega method for 2x2. Hope you all have a good day!
I enjoy experimenting with other methods, and I thought I'd learn Petrus. There aren't many tutorials on Petrus and I couldn't find a good one. Is there a tutorial you'd recommend?

It's a method for solving the 3x3. It used to be part of "The Big Four" for 3x3 methods, along with Roux, CFOP, and ZZ. Sort of recently, Petrus stopped getting used, and there are almost no tutorials on it. It's similar to CFOP, as you make a 2x2x2 block, then expand it to a 2x2x3 block, finish F2L in a special way, then do OLL and PLL.

Here's the SS wiki page on it: https://www.speedsolving.com/wiki/index.php/Petrus_Method

I might have slightly misrepresented the method, as I don't use it, but that's the basic idea. PetrusQueber can add anything that I might have missed if he wants, as he does use Petrus(thus the username)

(I had to split it into 2 posts due to the character limit)

Ey that’s pretty much correct. The special F2L is orienting bad edges after 2x2x3, then using R and U to do F2L, which leaves you with oriented edges for OLL. You can use lots of different Ll systems. OCLL and PLL is common, COLL and EPLL is another one, and ZBLL is the ultimate one look last layer.
