Hello! I am not new to the cubing world. I first started cubing when I first got into middle school when my teacher let me play with his rubiks cube. i got my first rubiks cube last christmas. it is a rubiks brand. I only know how to to begginers method. I don't have enough money to buy real cube. Right now i am learning the ortega method for 2x2. Hope you all have a good day!
I enjoy experimenting with other methods, and I thought I'd learn Petrus. There aren't many tutorials on Petrus and I couldn't find a good one. Is there a tutorial you'd recommend?

Hey, what is the petrus method?
DarkSavage
It's a method for solving the 3x3. It used to be part of "The Big Four" for 3x3 methods, along with Roux, CFOP, and ZZ. Sort of recently, Petrus stopped getting used, and there are almost no tutorials on it. It's similar to CFOP, as you make a 2x2x2 block, then expand it to a 2x2x3 block, finish F2L in a special way, then do OLL and PLL.
DarkSavage
Here's the SS wiki page on it: https://www.speedsolving.com/wiki/index.php/Petrus_Method

I might have slightly misrepresented the method, as I don't use it, but that's the basic idea. PetrusQueber can add anything that I might have missed if he wants, as he does use Petrus(thus the username)

(I had to split it into 2 posts due to the character limit)
signature I deleted:

Code:
I'm 1:02.935, using beginner's method (beginner's cross, intuitive F2L, 2-look OLL, full PLL). I wouldn't call it CFOP if I don't use speedcubing cross and full OLL.

Hey, I was looking at my times that I had gotten in previous weekly competitions and it says that I have a 5-second square 1 single. It was supposed to be a fifty-second single because I am not capable of that sort of time. Do you know of a way that I can change this? If it can't be changed you could just dnf that solve.

But e^iπ+1=0 is more beautiful than the Pyhagorean theorem, imo.

now I know what your username is all about, I though its was like ethiipei, pronounces similar to Ethiopia and with no real meaning lol
Etotheipi
Did my prof pic never give it away?
GAN 356 X
No, I didn't see how they related. But thats cos math isn't my strong point. English is
In honour of feet solving becoming unofficial, I did the second feet solve of my life in 12:17.
GAN 356 X
RIP feet. I did a feet solve once. It was a DNF cos the timer blacked out. I tried again and got 25 mins or something using a random timer online instead lol
My 4x4 times have dropped 20 seconds from 1:45 to 1:25 with a 1:04.508 single! Probably because im actually getting into 4x4 now. Theres a chance it may become my main event. I dunno yet though. We'll have to wait and see

Please do not get a 460. If you do you will never be able to tension your cube.
GAN 356 X
I only used it for about 10 seconds so that was just my first impressions
TheLegend12
I figure that if I get one I will get the Asou but we'll see. I've never tried a gan because they are too expensive(and I haven't been to a comp) but I don't really mind taking more time to tension or other things like that. Also, I have bigger hands so I don't think that the wrm would be very good for me.
Y'all gotta stop arguing about saving Feet. It's done, okay? The WCA took over half a year to weigh the pros and cons, and they decided that it's better to remove it. Now please, give it a rest. Defending it is a waste of breath at this point.
im going to western champs! i am very excited to get a sub 4 2x2 average and get a 5x5 single probably not average and if the cubicle releases a clock by then ill use that and be sub 20 because im told magnets help and the only reason im slow is because i have a bad clock

Its cool that you like linguistics! Have you given NACLO?
Etotheipi
Both my parents have double masters in linguistic areas. =P
ImmolatedMarmoset
dude that’s so cool!
Etotheipi
Im more of a math person, but its cool. Theyre helping making resources for the indigenous languages of Mexico, and helping translate the Bible into one indiginous language.

What's your favorite coding language? I use HTML, CSS, Python, SQL, and Basic JavaScript. My favorite is probably Python.

(I can also use Scratch, Code.org, and any of the drag-and-drop sites; if you count those

So I’ve been using code academy (just the free trial I’m to broke for pro lol) and I am like 20 percent through the website making class and I’m liking it a lot! I’m just now starting to learn css so that’s fun.
DarkSavage
Congrats! I'm glad you're liking it!
Hello Guys. I am back after a terribly hard year-plus, where I was unable to pick up a cube at all (won’t go into details). I am now just back with my 3x3, and trying to relearn my 3BLD, just two days ago, very creaky brain! For those who don’t know me, I am 81.
Sub1Hour
that's wild man, sucks that you have to relearn bld. Ive gotten OP down but I'm too lazy to learn letter scheme
Old Tom
The letter scheme gets to be automatic surprisingly quickly, with not much effort. Trick: focus on the letter which starts each face: AEIMQU. You can then quickly go around the face until you hit the desired letter. It very soon becomes a no-thought thing. Tap with your fingers at first, very soon you won’t need to.

I like to see old people such as your self cubing!
New PBs, low 22s. My F2L’s around 17 seconds now, and last layer 5 on a good day.

Hey!
Your name’s ‘CODING’Cuber, so just curious, what language do you code in?
I code in Python and Microbit!
