[Help Thread] ZZ and ZB Discussion

I watched byu's ZZ tutorial and was told that was a bad idea, where do you suggest I learn ZZ? The EO is confusing-ish to me. I think I have it all done, but then I don't understand whether or not it's done. byu's tutorial said any edge where you can only use a quarter turn (not using U or D) to put it in place means it's oriented correctly, but in 1 example solve by miniGOINGS (which didn't actually work) it contradicted this. Can someone write out a full example solve.

Thanks.

L2 R' U' L2 U D2 B' F2 U F2 R' F U' B' L' R U2 R D' F' D R D B2 U2

Misoriented - 3 on top, 2 in middle, 1 on bottom

F - flips UF, FR, and FL, also misorients FD

D U R' - brings remaining edges to the front

F

F D U R' F is EO. Line would be U2 R2 D'

a month ago i started lerning ZZ after 4 month fridrich...
and right now i can plan allmost allways the whole eoline. and 2 days ago a started learning blockbuilding so my ao12 is now 40 instead of 26 whn i didnt do blockbuilding
so i guess you can count me as well for the ZZ list

What can ZZ users be called? What I mean is Fridrich users are called Clones, Roux users are Rebels, MGLS users are cool people, etc. What can we be called :o

Bandwagoners.

gtf! ... ZZ'ers RUL :p

... well these guys seem to think so anyway:

Hmm..... ZZ uses EOLine, which isn't from another method. Then we use a half cross (line on D0) which is from the Fridrich method. Then we use Blockbuilding from Petrus, Roux and other methods. Finally, we use COLL/EPLL, ZZLL(any one of the variations) or OLL/PLL (I'm sure there are more).
EDIT: LETS TAKE BANDWAGONERS.

LOL ZZ'ers RUL. That was funny. The whole <R, U, L> F2L. Good pun. I am going to use that.

And it's not a bandwagon if we do it because there are advantages. Bandwagon implies you do it solely because other people do it.

lolwut?

why do you need a name other than zz users....
Roux users arnt 'Rebels' just people who sub-16 with it.

Creating a name for the entire group who use a method other than *method* user is kinda stupid.....

I guess it was fine at first when waffle was doing the whole rebellion thing but i mean even him, a waffle, knew when enough was enough.

just my two cents.

Nicknames. I want "Bandwagoners"

That is a good very good point there, sir.

ZZ clearly has some obvious advantages over other methods, and I'm quite surprised at the slow up-take. When I first learned about it in this thread I expected it to grow much faster than it has. I always put it down to the difficulty of EOLine and CFOP'ers struggling to get to grips with blockbuilding, but who knows..

Yeah, there sure have been a lot of people using ZZ lately.

I've known about it for four years, but I recently started practicing it because in January I was putting EOLine (sometimes just EO) as the first step in several method ideas.

Ok so. Some progress on my ZZ.

My EO detection is much better now, and I can orient pretty well, but I'm just tacking the line on the end. w/e, it's for fun ^_^.

I discovered that ZZ is a great way to practice COLL instead of CMLL.

I've been using my quad colour neutralness inherited from Roux.

I've been using pseudoblocks too, doesn't affect my solving at all (except the improvements from taking advantage of them). More of you should look into them.

So that's me for now. Thanks for motivating me to play with the method I've explored the least so far.

What do you average?
