Worlds 2025 registration in 4 phases, with varying qualifying times

This reminds me of a conversation off the layer by layer podcast where they were talking about a 30 second cut off for a national competition. They were saying how 30 seconds could really cut off important people in the community, but that it would be interesting to see these high-level competitions really being high-level, and not just community hang outs. It's interesting to see them make these changes to really get the best people in the world, but I think it's worth it for other world cubing events to occur, like a convention.

Me smooth brain no understans the phases thingy can someone explain :c
so each phase will be for a certain amount of time (I assume 1 or 2 weeks), and for each stage you have to be faster than the time stated to register.
for example in 3x3 the first phase is 8 seconds so only people with a time of 7.99 seconds or below can enter but by the time it gets to the 4th phase you only have to be sub-1

this is so people like Max Park can have some time to register before people like me who are realistically not going to win worlds.

I really like this idea, I hope it'll become mainstream for major championships. Although, I'll probably never go anyway unless there is one that's close enough, but oh well. Maybe the Netherlands get a WC at some point, considering it was cancelled in 2020.

the 3x3 cutoff for phase 4 is slower than the cutoff for 3x3 oh
I mean, more people will want to compete in 3x3 than in OH. OH is far less popular, so it makes sense to have a bit of a discrepancy there.

*fewer (sorry, I can't help myself)

Thanks for posting this out! seems like an interesting method, i will probably not participate (Seattle's on the opposite side of America ;/ ), but still fun that based on the phase i could take part (only in phase 4 but still)
