What's the status of TimeBase?

I believe (I may be wrong) the WCA board was talking about making a WCA Equipment Team that would work with the WFC to enable TimeBase to mass produce their displays and provide the community with them. As far as I know, TimeBase's displays have not entered mass production. Very excited to see how this situation changes.

Where exactly did you get this information from?

I've just gotten a reply from an email I sent to the WFC. While I am forbidden to disclose the full context of the email, the WFC has said that neither the WCA Board nor the WFC have any involvement with TimeBase, and that inquires would be best directed to the TimeBase team.

Of course they don't. TimeBase is a Calvin Nielson and Dan Patushnakov thing. It's not ready to be mass-produced and, if/when it is, it won't be by the WCA.

That's true. However, as the WCA is speedcubing's governing body, I was wondering if they would financially support the mass-production of new equipment that the community would eventually use.

The WCA doesn't have anywhere near enough money to do something like that in a way that would have any impact.

Is the WCA Equipment Team going to be announced anytime soon by the WCA?
