I still can't break the 20 second barrier. I know full PLL, 2-look OLL plus a few cases, and use a mostly rotation-less F2L style with partial edge control to avoid dot cases.

My averages tend to be around 23-25 seconds. I was wondering if anything other than my look ahead is slowing me down. Cross, algorithms, PLL recognition, turn speed, anything. I don't know anyone personally who is faster than me, so I turn to speedsolving.

My cube is a modded mf8 Legend. It's the best cube I have. Also have a GuHong, LingYun, Type-E, Alpha I and V (modded), and Rubik's.

Here are my PLL algorithms, plus the time I can execute them in. (Left hand dominant when cubing)
H: M2 U' M2 U2 M2 U' M2 - 1.46
Ua: L U' L U L U L U' L' U' L2 - 1.65
Ub: L' U L' U' L' U' L' U L U L2 - 1.68

Arranged by speed: H, T, Ua, Ub, Ja, Jb, Z, Y, Ra, F, V and Ab, Rb, E, Aa, Nb, Na and Gs.

Here are my 2-look OLL algorithms, plus the time I can execute them in.

Here are some example solves, with the time for each step written. I didn't drill each step, just did each once. OLL and PLL are combined, so you can see if recognition is a problem. My algs are above so no need to write them.

Average of 5 for those is 19.12, barely sub 20, with no pausing except for PLL recognition.

Any help / opinions are appreciated. I could post a video of an average but the quality would be terrible (iPod touch camera ftl)

you need better n perms and your a's should be sub 2 seconds, they are like the easiest, make sure that you are doing the D2's with you ring not your whole hand. You g's could be faster as well. Are you a lefty or just lefty during cubing? I use these algs: http://www.youtube.com/user/jammyman3014#p/u/9/fWyjLAiEL9o, you could mirror them to the left hand. This guy can do all of these algs sub 1 second and i nearly have all of the sub 2

Pay attention to the way he fingertricks them as they are key to success

I'm lefty while cubing but not while writing.
I do the D2 with my right ring finger, but flick twice rather than all at once.
I mirrored some of Breandan's algs, U perms and V perm, maybe a few others. I was planning on mirroring the Gs eventually.

I'm not sure which of my F2L algs are bad, other than the L U F U' F' L' F U' F' one.
At parts like F' (L U2 L') F and L' U' (R' U' R) L, sometimes I can make the next case easier by doing a U turn before doing the last F/L.
My B and f turns are pretty fast, for the B's I do a sort of quarter-x' rotation. I find it easier than sledgehammer.

I mean honestly, I was were you are about a month and a half ago or so and I just basically practiced up the ying yang and reworked my regrips/ algs. Plus i started going faster with a little less look ahead, it sped me up to about average of 19 and then other things put me at about 17 which is my current average.

I also know full oll though and i am color neutral which helps....

From those stats I'd say you need to work on recogniton/pauses as your last layer is taking around 8 seconds avg yet most of the algs take 1-2 seconds for LL.
Also your cross could definitely be better, mine is avg around 4 seconds and I avg around 35 seconds so it should be around 2-3, LL should be 4-6 in my opinion and F2l is great at how it is, I'd expect 8-12 seconds.

Bump, if you want to be able to average a 3 second cross then you need to be doing f2l in 9 seconds or less and that is if you just want to be barely sub 20. F2l should be closer to 7 if you want to be consistently under sub 20 with your current cross and LL times

Uh what?
Just did a avg 12 of each part of my solve;

Cross: 3.36
F2l: 16.18
OLL: 4.36
PLL: 4.32

I use both 2Look OLL and PLL...

Still my last layer is about half my time of my f2l, my cross being a fifth of it... I don't think a 7-9 sec F2l corresponds with a 3 sec cross... I reckon by the time I'm doing f2l in 7-9 seconds my last layer will easily be 4-5 seconds and cross around 2.

Edit: from what I've seen, the ratio of cross : f2l : oll : pll is regularly around 1:4:1:1

Edit2: Looked back at original post, it looks so weird having so many algs with 'L' in them cause you prefer L moves, they are bad for me =P.
