I was watching this video on youtube and there was an article in the "about this video" section and I can't figure out what method this guy uses:

is this just a blatantly ignorant misquotation or is there actually a memo method like this? Also, earlier in the article it kind of sounds like the guy made up a method on his own but I still don't see how memorizing 2 cubeis can give you enough information to solve the whole cube.
EDIT - I just realized, the reporter likely meant algorithm when he said "mathematical equation", but that doesn't explain the rest.
it kinda makes you wonder how much other stuff in the news is completely wrong just because the reporter decides to take the liberty of rephrasing something

...Vomberg, describing in great detail his technique.
He observes the cube briefly before putting the blindfold on. Once he memorizes where at least two squares are, he can figure out where the rest are supposed to go with a series of mathematical equations. Once one side of the cube is complete, the trick is to finish the rest without undoing it.
