Hello,

I finally ordered a clock. That being said, I want to do a YouTube video where I try to solve it with no knowledge, but after that I want to jump right in. That being said, what is the best clock method or the best progression to get to the best method? What are some good steps to take to get good at it fast? What are some misteps or bad habits to avoid when learning clock?

Thanks.

the easiest method to learn is flip and I think everyone should start with it.
after that some form of 7-simul
7-simul flip is the easiest but not very optimal (I don't know this method)
bPaul is also popular but is not considered "optimal" but its a bit easier to learn than Tommy's
Tommy's is considered the "best" and is a bit difficult to learn (but if you wanna be really good at clock then you should definitely go for it)

there are some other methods I don't kno very much about which I wont comment on.

TLDR; start with flip and then choose one of the 7-simul variations that best fits ur goals for clock.

I'm a clock newbie and I recently learned Alyz method. I looked at 7simul but it was a bit too much. Alyz provides a taste of 7simul with 4 easy things to memorize and 4 simultaneous moves, but it's really easy because you do three steps on the front, flip and do the exact same three steps again before solving the remaining corners. It's also very similar to the basic flip method. I'd say it's an optional stepping stone method on the way to 7 simul, in case 7 simul is too overwhelming at first.

I do think you can learn 7-Simul right off the bat, or at least right after learning flip. Flip is significantly easier, but if you can start with 7-Simul earlier on, it saves you a ton of time having to switch over. Everyone should know flip though, but that can be learned in a day. 7-Simul is a good option if you really want to get serious into clock, and it's completely different from flip in nearly all ways. You can still get really fast with flip though too, so it isn't a bad method to stick with by any means.

I was defeinitely keeping 7-Simul on my radar. I watched the video of Tommy teaching Tymon how to solve clock and that's what made me finally buy a clock. I'm sure those two can make anything look easy but I think I'm up for it.

yeah adding onto this, the easiest 7simul method to learn (imo) is definitely bpaul 7simul flip. The memo is the same thing repeated twice (one on each side), and the exec is the same on both sides other than one intuitive move at the end.

For a tutorial for 7sf, TheCubicle has a video where Tommy teaches Tymon 7simul, and you can use this to start learning.

7sf isn't bad at all, Jaidon Lin is WR7 with it iirc, there might be more that I'm forgetting but it's definitely possible to get world-class. I average mid 4 with it, and I have a 2.63 single and 3.66 average at home.

Doesn't Carter Thomas also use 7SF?

I'm going to have to give bpaul 7simul flip a try. I tried to follow Tommy's 7simul tutorial and got completely overwhelmed.
