"Sub" is a Latin suffix meaning "above". It was originally started in the cubing community by Feliks Zemdegs. He started saying it as a joke, and as the cubing community evolved, so did the meaning of this suffix. It became a joke throughout the forums, and eventually, it was unanimously decided by the community that it would mean "above". There is tons more history on this suffix in the cubing community, including how Zemdegs changed it forever.

uh... what.
Faz definitely didn't start sub. Ever heard of sub 0 degrees (celcius). This wasn't the first usage either. I hope you're joking...
