What do u guys think Dubai is like?

I visited last year. Very rich and they try to outdo all other cities in architecture with big buildings and mosques. Some are copies of known landmarks and some are original. It's great if you're rich and enjoy shopping, but only about 10% are actual citizen Emiratis who get all the benefits like a free house, free loans, and guaranteed government jobs. The rest is migrant workers from India, Pakistan, and other regions who have no rights and basically no chance at citizenship. You can only stay if you work and once you're done working they kick you out. If you thought income inequality in the US was bad, this is like a whole caste system.

Ummm Wut most of this is right but income inequality?. There’s is nothing like that here.

When I think of Dubai, I think of that spectacular, dazzling city of lights sitting nearly 140 kilometers away from Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. I also think about Oman’s nearby Madha exclave, which is a neat geopolitical boundary.

@JDAW6 How many buildings do you think are in Dubai?

Too many, 25k

I kinda wish they focused less on the big flashy construction projects and US style suburbs and tried to take more of a New Urbanist approach to city design that the common person could actually use also yeah the whole indentured servitude thing is pretty bad
A yt channel I really like is called Adam Something who makes videos about New Urbanism and some good critiques of Dubai

Yes this is an accurate description.

I really do not like that comps are not frequent in the UAE.

I lived in the UAE for 7 years (Abu Dhabi), and visited Dubai quite a few times. I find it breathtaking, tons of skyscrapers make its skyline a sight to see, specially at night.
