Im looking for a cube that has little to no lockups, I could care less about 45 degree corner cutting, but I would like some corner cutting, I just need one alot better than the Yuga-II seeing as it locks up alot... I'm willing to spend about ten dollars....

What kind of cube is like a ghosthand in feel and speed and has little to no lock ups?

I want a cube that cut corners @ 90 degrees, Impossible to lock, and un-poppable.
JUST KIDDING!
I want a cube that cuts at a fairly 30 degrees, stops WHERE YOU WANT TO, and cheap.

FWIW, I recently received an F-II and a Dayan Guhong, both are excellent so you can't go wrong with either, but I personally prefer the Guhong, it feels much smoother, slightly less lockup prone, and is still very controllable. They both pop about the same amount (very rarely). It really comes down to what suits your style.

You've probably already tried one/have one, but just in case, the F-II has a similar smooth, buttery feel and at the right tensions doesn't lock much.

Beware of pops, though. That's why I switched to A-V.

Hello.

I read some topics about Type A-V, F-II, GuHong and Haiyan Memory.

This cubes are 9-12 $ for each but Haiyan Memory is 25$.

Buying a Haiyan Memory is better then buying 1 AV + 1 FII?

PS: I have a Megahouse JSK and a Hungary Rubik.

Orly i dont think so...
If you have read around you should have known a haiyan memory is basically the same as a well corner modded A-V
IMHO, go for 1AV + 1FII
Figure out which suits your style of cubing.

Btw, videos about modding the A-V can be found at a click of a button on youtube.:) (Ok not really, but you get my point)

You know, I had the same problem with deciding what is the best speed cube to get. I think the best way to know is to try them all out! You may see video reviews and read other cubers comments but you do not know how you will do with the cube until you try it out for yourself.

So I was on LighTake the other day and I thought, "Why do I have to chose?". So I proceeded to purchase the AV, Ghosthand II, FII, and the Dayan Guhong. I know some people find it pointless to have a lot of 3x3's but I think it is a worthy investment.

The 1st one

Hi, guys

This is my first post, and I'm about to buy my first cube.
I'm Russian-Australian, 40 y.o. and as we all know after some age
the life and habits are rolling down back to childhood
(ending up wearing nappies at the age 90 :).
So I decided to get back to my toys well before they start
falling off from my hands, i.e. now. :)

Basically, I have three questions:

1. I want to start with 3x3x3 DIY set because I want to experience
everything in 100%, from A to Z, building my cube, lubricating, breaking in,
doing PBs etc. So the question is: Are there DIY sets which are as good
as type AIII, AV or type FII?

2. I still need to make a choice between AIII, AV and FII, it's up to me
but so far I tend to get Alpha V cos it is crisp, I like crispy crisp.
So question #2: DIY - are they crisp or bubble? And is it any difference
in white or black plastic regarding crisp-inity?

3. If 1=yes and 2=yes, can someone point me the best shop for DIY sets?
Price does not matter but should be reasonable (under $20).

Thank you.
Alex.

Well, if you want a good DIY cube, try getting a Dayan GuHong DIY kit. There has been a lot of talk about it, and people have said it is better than the Hiayan Memory cube (a modded AV in-case you do not know). You can get the DIY kits for around $13.

I don't think the colors of the cube affects the crisp-ness very much, it is mainly your preference on the look. I prefer white cubes, but it has nothing to do with how they move.

Here is a US-based webstore that has the GuHong DIY kit, but he also ships internationally (no idea which country you are in). You could also try PopBuying.com or cube4you.com to get a wider range of DIY kits.

1.Hmm.. FIIs are really good cubes, but they come assembled and prelubed.
If you want to "experience" everything.. then AV.You need to assemble them. I haven't heard alot about AIIIs though. So there isn't much I can say about those.

2.I don't think the color of the plastic matters. And FII's have that crispy sound to me, and they have that bubbly feeling as well.

3.Lightake sells FII, AIII and AV for a reasonably cheap price and has free worldwide shipping.

I hope this helps.

Thanks guys, I found AV on C4U and DaYan GuHong on Lightake.
That was easy, thanks. DaYan looks unusual, futuristic, but people
complain about "some missing pieces" in a bag.

So, more questions:
1. Another DIY is Type A Magic Cube DIY Kit 5th Gen. Is it a good AV?
Is it different to AV on C4U? Which one is better?
2. What is the difference between White and Porcelain White?
3. What is MHZ?
4. What is Gas-Assisted? Is Cube4you Gas-Assisted 3x3x3 Cube
with CUBESMITH Sticker
top of the range (according to the price)?
5. And finally, which one do you think is crispier:
- AV on C4U
- GuHong
- Type A 5th Gen

I feel like it's too many questions, but I want to buy before weekend,
so I have 24 hrs to go :)
