Greeting from Lubix Headquarters!

Dayan has started to include new cores in there cubes, and this really caught me by surprise when I pulled apart a cube to mod it into a Fusion. Got side tracked for nearly 30 minutes trying to figure out what the difference was between it and the older cores.
This is what I have determined.

They used a much much much harder plastic, when cleaning off the random burrs that show up on the cores, I have had to replace blades twice as often as normal.

There is still screw misalignment, this is extremely annoying because of how hard the plastic is, you have to be VERY careful threading the screws, I almost think that this makes getting straight screws harder, which of course is a very important aspect of the turning capability of a cube.

Obviously, they have changed the color from the off-white/yellowish to an opaque white.

The mold looks exactly the same dimensions as the older cores that most everyone has right now.

On the left is an old Dayan core, on the right is the new one.

I think that the real difference is the harder plastic. Either way the cores are slightly better than they used to be in the molding sense, but as I said, it is extremely difficult to align the screws correctly if they were not originally put in straight, (which for me is the case most of the time since I am modding cubes out of the factory)

Quick note, I think that the centers spin a little better with this plastic, meaning I think they have a lower coefficient of friction than the old soft cores.

This means I am going to be a lot less frustrated with screws wiggling around on me in my solves!

Anyone else have access to these cores yet?
If you bought a White Lubix GuHong, Fusion, or Black ZhanChi within the last week, you will have received one, I don't know if anyone else has these in yet.

Cheers

I just received a new DaYan ZhanChi today. I don't have any older DaYans so have no way to compare and don't know if it has the new core or the old core. I actually just dissasembled it a couple of hours ago so don't know if I'll do that again any time soon. I have five cubes and this is the best one.

As part as my main hobby/job I repair and manufacture small parts, some of which are made from many different types of plastics. Nylon is not necessarily "very strong". It depends. It might work just fine for a cube core. Maybe there are different types of nylon too. One nylon part I see often tend to break and it would be much better to make it from a different type of plastic. Being harder could mean it will break easier, or not, this also depends.

BTW to remove burrs and sharp edges I use a dental micromotor (same as what technician use in dental laboratories).
