This thread is about a discussion question. The question is, what inspired you to start cubing? My personal answer is: I was browsing youtube and saw the world record video (6.24) and then watched lots of other Feliks Zemdegs videos mainly on his channel (Fazrulz1). I decided to buy a cube and learn the algorithms. From then on I just practiced and got better. So anyway, what inspired YOU?

I taught myself before i saw anyone else solve the cube, but since then I guess just Tristan, Michal and Chris Bird... the usual suspects for cubing influence... other than Feliks and Yu Nakajima

Can I just list the people in the Speedsolving community that had an influence on me? Cuz I'm gunna.

- Erik Johnson
- Michael Gottlieb
- Jules Manalang
- Chris Tran

(Might add moar when I remember)

My friends who used CFOP and averaged like a minute. Funnily enough, they still do, and I'm way ahead now.

I first used CFOP but hated it so much until I finally decided to look for an interesting method. On YouTube I saw Gilles solving it and it looked so coll (pun intended).
I checked out his website and switched.
