I will be DMing scrambles to you all individually. Times are due in approximately 2.5 days, or on Saturday (09/07/2024) at 11:59 EST. Please consult the original post announcing this round for information regarding its format.

As a brief recap, two competitors will be eliminated this round. Like the first round, certain final placements must be avoided (#2 and #3 in this case), as those who end up in said final positions will be eliminated. All Ao5s (Bo3 or Mo3 for 3-5 BLD and Bo1 for MBLD) will be ranked by the TIME regardless of event, so a 0.78 average on Megaminx would beat a 1:17.83 average on Clock.

Interestingly, every competitor selected a different event this round, which I believe may be the first time this has happened. I might as well also disclose how the advantage for the Quarterfinals will be determined. Individuals in the TOP 2 non-eliminated positions will be given an advantage; that is places #1 and #4. Do with this information as you wish.

Best of luck to all, and congratulations for making it to the top 50%!

Hey guys, so speedolsving.com suddenly doesn’t work on my phone (403 forbidden). It did that on my computer for around a week, but I may not be able to check in on this as frequently until it gets back up. It shouldn’t be a huge issue, but if I don’t update or respond to things immediately, that is why.

Edit: Nevermind I can access this with a different browser.

HERE ARE THE RESULTS FOR ROUND 5

1. @Cubist-Guitar: 2x2; Ao5 = 1.24, Single = 0.74
2. @AJT17: 3x3 OH; Ao5 = 43.52, Single = 31.40
3. @An Animating Cuber : Pyraminx; Ao5 = 1:04.02, Single = 55.20
4. @Abram Grimsley : 5x5; Ao5 = 2:01.44, Single = 1:45.88
5. @CAPTAINVALPO96 : Megaminx; Ao5 = 3:53.27, Single = 3:44.08
6. @SkewbIsTheBestEvent : 5BLD; Bo3/Single= 55:07.61

Unfortunately, @AJT17 and @An Animating Cuber are eliminated from the competition, but perhaps not??

WEEWOOWEEWOO THERE'S A TWIST

I've been planning this from the start, and now seems like the perfect opportunity. ONE eliminated competitor has the opportunity to come back for the quarterfinals. During this round, TWO will be eliminated and three will remain. This could very much switch things up, which is conducive to the unpredictable nature of this competition.

I'm going to open a poll which will will close TOMORROW (09/08 at 11:59 PM EST). You can vote for yourself and all current competitors may vote. I will not be voting. If there is somehow a tie, multiple competitors will be reinvited and all but three will be eliminated.

Being in the first two non-eliminated positions, @Cubist-Guitar and @Abram Grimsley will be given an advantage! This will be revealed once I design the Quarterfinals.

Best of luck to everyone!!

**** I didn't choke Pyra hard enough

Let's gooo there's still hope!!! I don't know why but I just want to do well in this comp so badly 🤣 . I think it's because it's rare to have such a unique design in a forum comp.

@Clock_Enthusiast if whoever gets uneliminated doesn't respond will it go to somebody else?

I will just require confirmation before the Quarterfinals begin. There will be some time, and I'll reach out via DM.

I figured I need some kind of strategy so whoever votes for me, I will change my pfp to a puzzle or animal of your choice for 7 days. I'm only posting this twice so it's not spam, once on my profile and one here. Votes appreciated!

Edit-
OK, I've got some competition so I'm changing up the deal.
If you vote for me to be uneliminated I will change my pfp to anything(but it has to be reasonable) and also follow you(if you like).
I can also give tips and critique(I'm not that fast but like 1:10 global on 3BLD). This forum comp is basically becoming Worlds 2024 but with bribery lol.

AND THAT’S A WRAP.

There is a tie between @AJT17 and @bldcuber314, meaning that both will be reinvented to the quarterfinals! Congratulations!

As we’re back to six competitors, THREE of you will now be eliminated in the quarterfinals. We could end up with three of the four qualifiers from last round eliminated! Anything can happen.

As previously mentioned, @Cubist-Guitar and @Abram Grimsley will have an advantage in the quarterfinals. I will design this next round in the near future.

QUARTERFINALS TIME!

Congratulations for making it this far. Even though we're back up to six competitors, three will be gone before we know it, and the remainder will advance to the semifinal round.

By WCA profile or speedsolving.com results (if no WCA ID), I will add up your PR singles and you must complete a relay of these puzzles as CLOSE to that time as possible. I didn't include BLD events nor FMC.

But @Clock_Enthusiast, single solves aren't an accurate indicator of one's global times!

Yes, and that's the point! It's extremely unlikely that ANYONE will be on the dot with this one. I will also be calculating results by percent away from the goal time rather than in seconds/minutes away from the target. This is to account for longer events with greater variation, so you won't be cooked if you have a 13 second difference in 7x7. This may, however, make sprint events a little more difficult, but they likely won't count as much in your overall time (with less time to complete each).

Here are the events you have been given along with the time you must meet! Use a stackmat if possible, but if you anticipate going over 10 minutes, a keyboard or phone is fine. Let me know if I've made a grave error anywhere.

1. @Cubist-Guitar : Skewb, Clock, SQ-1, 5x5, 3x3

5.62, 5.52, 20.94, 1:18.34, 9.37

1:59.16

2. @Abram Grimsley: 2x2, Skewb, Pyraminx, 5x5, 3x3

3.55, 8.66, 5.71, 1:49.78, 11.29

2:18.99

3. @SkewbIsTheBestEvent: Sq1, Skewb, Pyra, Mega, Clock

6.89, 1.45, 1.82, 45.41, 4.24

59.81

4. @CAPTAINVALPO96: 3x3, 4x4, 2x2, Skewb, 3x3 OH

12.34, 1:17.08, 2.70, 8.80, 30.25

2:11.17

5. @AJT17 5x5, 4x4, 7x7, 6x6, 3x3

1:32.14, 52.94, 6:05.67, 3:00.84, 7.62

11:39.21

6. @bldcuber314 : SQ-1, 3x3, 4x4, Megaminx, 3x3 OH

25.32, 10.94, 1:17.07, 2:15.29, 31.93

4:40.55

As for the ADVANTAGE, @Cubist-Guitar and @Abram Grimsley get to switch ONE event with anything else they want! Let me know either here in the thread or through DM.

UPDATE: I NEVER SPECIFIED SCRAMBLES. I WILL SEND THEM TO YOU. THE ROUND WILL BEGIN ONCE ALL ARE SENT.

Dang that'll be hard... I haven't touched a Megaminx for so long it's gathering dust. Why did I have to get a Squan single 1 second off overall PB...

This is the one time where not going to many WCA competitions pays off
@Clock_Enthusiast do you send scrambles or do we generate our own?
Fun fact your PR 4x4 single and my weekly comp PR 4x4 single are 0.01 apart. I'm glad I didn't do much weekly comp 4x4 and Mega, but Squan is really gonna screw me over. My PR single is 35 seconds faster than my global, and I haven't done Squan for ages(I hope I can still solve one lol)
