I will begin constructing the final round officially. Thank you all so much for your patience. I haven't forgotten about this, and we will know very soon if @bldcuber314 or @AJT17 is our deserving champion.
I have an outline for how this will go, and I'll make a post tonight or tomorrow. Be prepared. This also involves past competitors, so I'll ping them here. You will be pinged again when the time comes, but this is a reminder that the final round involves you all in some capacity.

Are you able to film an attempt of the final challenge at minimum as an unlisted (not public) YouTube vid or some other file? I have a scenario planned involving 25+ unique possible variables, so I need to know if it's possible to ensure they're done. It is also the Grand Final, so that would be ideal given the stakes.

Okay. I'm going to need to rethink this then, because it will be difficult to evaluate many aspects of my current plan. If it doesn't work then we'll just continue with the current honor system that's been used thus far.
Please read carefully. Detailed information regarding the final round
The first stage of finals has begun. I have written a range of scenarios which will be distributed by former competitors of this very competition. Individuals who made it further will decide aspects of the final round which carry more weight. I will begin DMing you all individually with instructions. This stage will take a little bit to get everything sorted, but we will have an exceptionally grand final thereafter.
You may NOT share any information with competitors or eachother. Please do not post anything regarding decisions on this thread unless prompted either. This is to make everything as unbiased as possible.
The final round will look something like this:
You will complete a relay of eight puzzles with a target time decided by your current WCA or Speedsolving.com PR averages. This is similar to previous rounds, which you can consult if you need a refresher on the format.
Events and 20 possible associated rules will be predetermined by all previous competitors. All of this will be revealed publicly once compiled. There are 3 categories of associated rules:
1. Advantages: A rule which either directly provides a benefit to your relay, or allows for criteria which provides a benefit if met.
2. Challenges: A rule which creates a distinct challenge to your relay attempt, or opens potential for penalties if criteria are not met.
3. Neutral: A rule that doesn't inherently provide distinct advantages or disadvantages, but alters the structure of your relay attempt.
Every individual making a decision will be given two options of the SAME rule category, meaning it is impossible for one finalist to accumulate all rules of one category. You will assign one rule to each finalist in response to my DM, and I will take note to include in the official final announcement. There WILL be rules that you decide conditions for after events are decided. You will pick a rule for both finalists, but you may need to wait for the event list to determine how a rule applies (which I will DM to you upon its completion).
Additionally, the 8 most recently eliminated competitors will select events. Most recently eliminated gets first pick and so on.
As filming cannot be conducted, we will rely on the strong honor system which has been used thus far. In order to maintain complete integrity over the competition, I am making selection processes secret, hence why you cannot share information before the round begins. As always, events and target times will differ between competitors, and final results will be determined via percentage from target. The lowest time is most favorable, so you are aiming for lower than or as little above your target as possible.
I will begin DMing everyone soon, in order from most recently eliminated to the earliest eliminated competitors.
