Hey guys I was thinking of a method layer by layer to the square1 Where you assemble the first layer then do cube shape and pll, I know it would be a horrible method the cube would get stuck but it would be a good experience

The problem with this is that it would be hugely inefficient, and it’s far less straightforward to manipulate the puzzle at all until it is in cubeshape, so I’m not even sure a layer is doable until you are in cs. Why I think the method doesn’t work is because the cubeshape doesn’t preserve the layer and probably only a 123 on the left at best. The reduced number of possible cubeshape cases isn’t even good anyway. With shield/square and muffin/square being objectively the best cases other than square/square. Overall don’t think this method would work and if anyone can find cs algs that preserve a layer chances are they are much longer and worse

It could work since people can get so fast with methods like lin where you make a layer except DF edge so you can use an alg to put in that edge without disturbing the layer and learn the pll algs and the parity algs etc
