Comp Practice - Leaving for the comp in 1 week!

2x2: 5.17 - Pretty bad, didn't solve well.

3x3: 17.59 - Pretty good - 15 single.

OH: 36.79 - Bad, but I did not solve well here.

4x4: 1:10.62 - Solved well, but almost all of these had double parity.

Skewb: 11.76 - Solved badly here.

Pyraminx: 9.11 - Worse than average, I DNFed one of these.

Clock: DNF - Pushed a pin on accident, and was off by one turn on another one. I did have a low 11 single though.

Today went pretty badly.

Daily Practice: Comp in a week!! I am really tired right now(Just got back from a wedding)

2x2: 4.25 - Really good, but I honestly wasn't happy with this. THREE of the solves were a pll skip, and 4 of them had at least one bar.

3x3: 16.72 - Good avg, ended up counting a 14 which I was really happy with.

OH: DNF - Solved terribly here, as well as DNFing some.

4x4: DNF - Didn't see parity and pop.

Skewb: DNF - Meh. I didn't even care about this that much, just solved badly.

Pyraminx: 8.56 - Pretty average, but I plus 2ed out of counting a 5.

Clock: 15.38 - Pretty good, started with a 12 single.

Daily Practice: 5 days to comp! I didn't post my practice yesterday, as I was competing in the end of year thing and I had my Spanish mid-term today.

2x2: 2.83 - What!?!?!? This is PB2, but there was a lot of luck here. I got THREE PLL skips(All mid 2) in this avg, 1 of them was a 4, and I had one solid 2 with a predicted OLL.

3x3: 18.49 - Pretty average, I did have a 14 single though.

OH: 32.18 - Pretty average as well.

4x4: DNS - I was busy and didn't really feel like doing 4x4 today.

Skewb: 12.38 - Really bad, but my solving was not good here.

Pyraminx: 9.39 - Not that good.

Clock: Same as 4x4.

I haven't posted my practice in a few days, but here was today's Comp sim practice(Comp in 3 days):

2x2: 4.65 - Pretty decent average, started out with a PB2 single(1.77). U2 R U R F R2 F2 R2 F2 - Solve 2 move white layer with U R'. OLL U' F R U R' U'. AUF U'.(5 TPS)

3x3: 18.24 - Pretty average, had a 14 single.

OH: 30.24 - Pretty good avg, had a 25 single.

4x4: 1:13.13 - Not a great average, but every single solve had parity, some with double parity.

Skewb: 13.32 - Really bad.

Pyraminx: 7.72 - Pretty average.

Clock: 14.08- PB, happy with this avg. It had a counting 17(due to a pin push DNF), but the other three solves were 12s and 11s.

Daily Comp Sims, Comp Tomorrow!(Also my house is freezing so I used hand warmers today lol):

2x2: 4.95 - Decent, one bad single.

3x3: 18.96 - Not great, but my hands are cold and I also solved badly.

OH: 33.58 - Pretty decent - 4 avg solves and 1 DNF.

4x4: 1:13.54 - Decent, as most of these had parity.

Skewb: 9.58 - Pretty average.

Pyraminx: 9.46 - Not good, about 1 second slower than my global.

Clock: DNF - Off by one turn and pin push, I did have a 13 and 14 though.

I know I did mains and goals about a week ago, but some of my goals have changed since then, so here they are:

2x2: Gan 251 Pro - To not choke, and at least get a sub-5 avg.
3x3: WRM V9 SE - 17 or 16 second avg, sub-15 single maybe?
OH: Guhong Pro 54 Standard - Sub-33 avg, sub-30 single.
4x4: MGC - Sub-1:10 avg if I get few parities, sub-1:15 if I get a bunch of parities.
Skewb: Gan Enhanced - Sub-10 avg, sub-9 single.
Pyraminx: XMD Bell V2 - Sub-8 or sub-9 avg, sub-7 single.
Clock: Qiyi - Sub-15 average(If I solve well), and a sub-13 single(Also if I solve well).

I will post day one results tomorrow, hopefully it goes well. I probably won't do much on day 2 other than 1 or 2 2nd rounds, but I will still post stuff for that as well.

Okay, I just got back from NC Champs Day one, so here is that.

2x2: 4.46 - Pretty good avg, glad I didn't choke, so I was happy with this.

3x3: 15.55 - Really good avg, plus 2ed a 13 which would have made a 14 avg, still happy with this

4x4: 1:06.xx - Decent avg, got 8/10 parity though. Had 2 sub-1s.

Clock: 15.39 - avg avg, DNFed and had an E1, so this was weird.

Pyraminx: 7.77 - pretty good avg, had 1 bad single (12)

I kind of popped off today so we will see how tomorrow goes.

Events Tomorrow:

3x3 OH
3x3 RD 2
Clock RD 2
Skewb

Hopefully day two goes well.🙂

Back from NC Champs, had a blast! Here are my results:

I did popped off on Day 1, only good parts of day 2 were OH and Clock RD 2.

2x2: 4.46 avg, 3.35 single. Decent avg, the 3 scramble had no bars :0

3x3:

RD 1: 15.55 avg, 14.01 single, would have had a 14 avg if I didn't plus 2 a 13.
RD 2: 18.34 avg, 16.43 single

OH: 30.37 avg, 21.46 single, would have been pb avg by counting a 26 and 29, but I also counted a 35.

4x4: 1:06.42 avg, 58.57 single
Had 2 sub 1s and 8/10 parity

Skewb: 10.79 avg, 9.19 single, I don't care about this event(I avg 8-9)

Pyraminx: 7.77 avg, 6.06 single, decent avg and glad I didn't mess up.

Clock:

RD 1: 15.39 avg, 14.38 single
RD 2: 14.81 avg, 13.22 single, good avgs

Really fun comp, 2 more next month!

It occurred to me today that I am really bad at 5-7 and megaminx, so I decided to start grinding 5x5. I am also going to finish with the g perms and nb perm by December.

I did my first ever timed 5x5 solves(did an mo3) today, so here was that:

4:08.96
4:09.49
4:19.57

I also got a 3:40 single later on. Right now, I am learning some techniques and free slice edge pairing.

So I decided to start the 4x4 ao1000 challenge...

I was 13 solves in and got pb by three seconds. The scramble didn't even look that good AND IT HAD OLL PARITY.(Tbf doing oll parity was the oll and it was a pll skip so it was kind of lucky). I am in absolute disbelief right now.

Congrats! You should post this in the ao1000 thread, it'll help keep the thread up on top

I FINALLY DID IT:

I have choked out of a 4x4 sub-1 avg at least 5 times(did parity when there was no parity, cube pop, lockup, choked 5th solve multiple times, and more)

I actually destroyed this though, and am extremely happy. I usually mess up solves 3-5 when I start off well, and it came down to solve 5 again, but I was able to pull it off. Also, my mo3 is now 59.93(4x4 is the only event where it is always worse than my ao5 lol)

Time List:

56.78 - Wow good start, PB3 at the time
(54.42) - Wow that is good, also PB3 at the time(still is)
(1:08.60) - Not looking good for the avg after this...
1:00.45 - I was happy with this, as my avg would have been 58 right now.
56.45 - So happy I pulled this off, I always mess up solve 5 in 4x4, but I ended with a really good single.
Screenshot 2023-11-08 190738.png
I also got a 1:04 ao12, which is pretty good. I've been wanting an average like this for a long time, so glad I finally got it. :)

So I stopped learning PLL about 3 months ago and kind of stagnated, but I have another comp in a few weeks and am going to know it by then.

Just learned the Ga Perm! It is actually a really nice alg, probably learning the other g perms or the one n perm I don't know next. 4 more to go!

Learned 2 more PLLs today:

Gb Perm: I don't really like the alg but I got the hang of it.

Gc Perm: For whatever reason, I love the flow of this alg so much. I was able to fully learn this is about 2 minutes, and for some reason I understood it really well.(This is the only G Perm that I genuinely enjoy so far)

Remaining PLLs:

Nb Perm(I'm going to hate it)

Gd Perm: I hear it is decent

I practiced 5x5 some more today, I feel like I am getting a lot better, but also still feel like I am not good at 5x5 yet. I did an ao5 in the weekly comp, which was 3:22. I got a 3:01 single, would have been sub-3 without edge parity, but I was happy with these solves. I need to work on my efficiency during last 4 edges, as well as reducing pauses, but I am improving. I am also about to learn the Nb Perm, which is my final PLL.

Update - Learned Nb perm, execution is slow though(Full PLL!!!)

Got my MGC 5 yesterday, did some solves on it(above), installing the magnet kit I bought for it tomorrow. I also got the Tengyun Plus 2x2, and I feel that it is very underrated. I did my weekly comp avg on it(went badly)

Probably going to get my lookahead and f2l better before my next comp(3 weeks), as I am not learning OLL by then and there is not much for 3x3 that I can do until then. I am going to work on my 4x4 and other events, as well as getting better skewb oll recognition.

More 5x5 practice(Still bad, lol)

Did an ao5, cracked sub-3 with a single twice but got edge parity on the final 3.

Still, this ao5 was one second faster than my previous pb single and 20 faster than my old ao5. I am improving at a rapid rate and think I will be sub-3 soon:

1. 2:55.72
2: (2:53.10)
3. (3:16.28)
4. 3:03.36
5. 3:08.37

3:02.48 ao5 - Progress!

I just had the most insane start to a 2x2 average of my life.(I choked horribly)

I started out with a 1.99(I avg mid 4), then a 2.12. After these 2 I was freaking out and trying to not mess up, and pulled off a 3.44. Good time, not on track for pb avg though. With a counting 2.12, the nerves got to me and I got a 4.3(I literally could not turn well due to shaky hands) and a plus 2ed 3.33. Kind of sad but it started decently.(Pb avg is still 2.65) :(

I just got my second ever 4 mover in 2x2 and didn't even realize...

I saw that it would skip oll but didn't see that it would for pll also

downsolved to a .85 on second try :(

1.30 Pb2 - U' R' F R U2 R' F' R' U'

Still a really good time though

I was bored today, so I did fmc in the weekly comp lol

I only used 20 minutes(I never finish the whole hour, probably could have found something better in the remaining time), I didn't have the dedication to finish it :/

I got a 45 single, might do it again tomorrow or something.

I did more fmc today, I feel like I am not terrible, I kind of want to compete in a wca comp for it lol

First in the weekly comp lets go(Until I get absolutely destroyed by all of the other people that are actually good at fmc 🤣 )

ignore all the DNS times from the good fmcers lol

Screenshot 2023-11-21 135911.png

Overall I feel like I am getting better at fmc, I might do it again next week. I'm probably going to learn Niss or something to get better. I almost got sub-40 though :O

Also I somehow had a corner twist on one of my cubes during my attempt 🤣
I totally didn't take 20+ mins to notice :/
