I looked into it (a bit) and have found the cheapest reputable online places for 4-cubes. Here they are (in order of reputation):
X-Cube
MF8 + Dayan
Ghost Hand
ShengShou (black or white)
Maru
Lan Lan



Anyway, the real reason I made this thread is for opinions. Can somebody with experience with the cubes please give a comparison of the products? EastSheen and QJ just aren't cutting it for me anymore, and I don't want to waste my money. Is X-Cube the only way to go?

DaYan + MF8>Maru>X-cube>mini QJ.
LanLan and ShengShou comes last.

Lanlan and QJ are the same cube with different name.

Most Maru's suck due to misalignments.

ShenShou and Ghosthand are both the same cube with different names and are very good when moded and lube with shock oil.

Mf8+Dayan is a ball core like the QJ but is very good when moded and lubed properly.

X-cube is fast and the most like a 3x3 but the problem is, is its ether too tight and doesnt turn well or fast, or if its too loose you have a high risk of a cubesplosion.


If you really want to fish out $50 and get the x-cube then go do it. But if you want a cheaper cube that in my opinion can be better, then I would suggest getting the Shenshou/ghosthand or the Mf8+Dayan. The Shenshou/Ghosthand feels like an alpha V as a 4x4 and the Mf8Dayan feels like an FII as a 4x4.

Feels like an AV in 4x4 form. Explosive, springy pops. If you can handle a loose AV and like it, maybe it's for you. Cheap.

Mini QJ
Terrible/no corner cutting, no pops. Kind've fragile. As in likes to break. Kinda small.

Dayan Mf8
Best I've had so far. Good cutting, smooth inner, outers getting better. Must be tensioned properly. Good cube for people with larger hands. it's SLIGHTLY bigger than a V cube 5. I'm srs. Luckily I do have bigger hands.

Dayan is by far the one that felt better in my hands... inner and outer layers are amazing, BUT I Prefer Maru because it pops like hell.
I just coudn't find the sweet spot, even though I open it, relubed it and retension at least 4 times. Lost my patience and just kept with my Maru.

I have both and they most certainly are not.

They have the same ball core mechanism. Nothing special like the Dayan.

They may have a very similar mechanism, but they aren't the same cube. IMO the QJ is much better.
