Replacement alg for R' D' R D x 4 to solve top corners

So one of the ways I enjoy to do OLL/PLL is when top edges are in the right place (yellow cross) I use R' D' R D x 2 (or x 4) to align each corner on the top right (rotating top once each is solved).

The x 2 version works when the yellow face is facing right, but if its facing the front, I need to do it x 4.

Is there an alternative to doing the move four times? I've tried solving the corner in the top left instead (yellow facing left) and doing L D L' D' which does solve the top layer, but screws up the bottom two layers.

I do understand this isn't necessarily the fastest or best method, but trying to get my head around how I'd do this.

Try to learn beginner OLL. I would recommend J Perm’s tutorial or SpeedcubeDB

The simplest would be to invert the moves. R' D' R D has order 6 (i.e. returns to solved after 4 times), so doing the inverse twice is the same as doing it normally 4 times.

(D' R' D R)2

Applied to a case with 4 misoriented corners:

(D' R' D R)2

(D' R' D R)2

For your case I would recommend to learn either beginner pll or how to solve oll with multiple sune and antisune turns.

But the trick with the inverse move is cool. Maybe I try this for megaminx where I still use this method.

You can also flip the cube upside down and use Sexy if sticker is right, Reverse Sexy if the sticker faces you.
For Megaminx I flip it if there are more than 3 edges to turn.
