Reduction of a 4x4x4

Would it be possible to reduce a 4x4 to a 2x2x2? I tried once and it took me a few hours, but I think with practice I might be able to get it down to a few minutes. Has anyone found a quick method or is reduction to a 2x2 improbable for speed solving?

its harder to reduce a 7x7 to a 3x3

You can, but it's less efficient.

Haha I've thought of this, but it's just so slow!

It's basically like taking a 7x7, reducing it to a 5x5, then reducing it to a 3x3. It just doesn't work (normally)

Bld method with eyes open aka commutators won't be speed-optimal. Try blockbuilding a 4x4 and see how many digits your time has.

-.- You don't have to solve the entire cube with pure commutators. Do a search for K4. Or sandwich.
