Proving UF5

I am rethinking how to structure my 5-style public algsheet.

Currently it is just one sheet with 126k rows, which makes it super easy to navigate but there is no form of classification.
It makes sense to have ~400 tabs with ~400 cases listed in each one of them.
I will give this a try and see if it increases ability to classify and navigate better.

Especially searching the comms for all the letter quad cases yo.

@abunickabhi logic:

"I'll learn 1 million algs to see if it is worth it or not"

@abunickabhi 20 years later:

"It was not"
haha it is not worth it, but it is worth to map it out.

For example, it is useful to make a detailed map of Greenland, but not useful to live in it.

Turns out, I had some alg mistake on the very first page of my sheet, it is so easy to overlook things especially when you are completing a long process with a lot of cases.

The pink column on the right labels the PAO nature of the letter quad.
Each alg is linked to a youtube video showing the exec.
Some comms take a while to understand, apologies for that.

I still think about 5ish comms are not easy to execute on page 1 and need to be replaced sometime soon.

Do you have any thoughts on 5OP? That is, orient the edges first and then do 5-cycles, so you have a lot fewer algs to memorize. I thought it could be an interesting proof of concept for full 5-style.
I have given 5turbo some serious thought, where we do 2 3-style algs, or we do setup to M U M' U' type easy algs for edge execution.
The development for 5turbo algset is still not complete.

That being said, I have never thought of 5OP before, it sounds interesting, maybe I will give it a serious thought and see how many cases are there, and if they are fingertrickable enough. Also the pros and cons with 5turbo should be done so that they become relevant and robust intermediate methods before transitioning to full UF5.

Also the transition from UF3 and full floating UF3 to UF5 is not trivial, the easiest way is to know the 4,5,6 etc movers of UF5 and slowly inculcate them in your solves.

At this time, I feel 5turbo and 5OP are off-shoots which make the transition to UF5 to even more work than it already is. The top BLDers have dismissed UF5 since 2018 and I have not been able to sell any version of it to them. 5turbo and 5OP is just additional work complicating the advancement process.

Also the general consensus is that FFUF3 (full floating 3-style), LTCT and full parity is good enough.

I don't think OO for 154k unique 2x2 states is the way to go. It is wasting everyone's time. Anyway it won't receive the hate and flame and trolling that UF5 algset has been getting for the last 7 years. I guess the people working on it are world class so it is inappropriate to dismiss their efforts.
I know OO won't work for a few years or ever for that matter, coz doing OO for UF5 was and is a lot of work.

I guess this effort won't receive as much trolling, hate and backlash as UF5 because a world class cuber has proposed it and they have some community support.

It has been 3 years since the last feedback cycle of UF5 algset! Thanks to the 106 cubers who made sure the developments and ideas stayed on track.

A lot has been changed in the cubing world since then and cubing has evolved a lot. I would like everyone to give their thoughts about the viability of this algset from the perspective of the year 2025.

Thanks for your time and patience!

I am revamping how I want to make fingertricks comm execution video for each UF5 case.

I plan to release 10 videos a day, in portrait and as YT short with link to the Google sheet cell on my public algsheet.

In each video I will cover 4 cases, alg, inverse, mirror and mirror inverse,
Since all of the algs would be from the same alg and can be derived interchangeably.

It’s not really an exact comparison though.

The ergonomics of the UF5 algs seem absolutely awful. You’ve shared a ton of algs over the years and almost all of them seem like a pain to execute quickly.

2x2 won’t face that same ergonomics issue since it’s only outer turns and the cases can be learned in a tree structure starting with the closest to solved positions so learning complex solutions becomes a few moves into a case you know.

Yes I agree with you.

Ergonomics is a much easier task on the 2x2 puzzle as we have maximum 3 gen (RUF) algs if we start from the right orientation to execute.

FYI,
UF5 also has a tree structure with subset algs being defined by a less setup move. The commutation is similar in many cases and a lot of parallels and classification is drawn. But yeah it is a lot more work than classifying OO.
