Yeah, I use the center cycle alg when there's a nice cross built around the wrong center.

Consider this scramble:
D2 R U2 F2 R B2 R' B2 U2 R D2 L' B' L' D B2 U' F D2 B' R' D'

The white cross is solved, but around the wrong center. This can be solved with M E M' E' and then aligning the cross.

Yeah it's similar in effect but nicer to execute. Plus lookahead to first pair is super easy since no other pieces shift positions.
