Expenses
Cube: $20
Maglev Rings: ~$14
Magnetic Core: ~$17
Final Price: ~$51
I will change the pricing to ~$60, but profit margins are very much minimalized, not including the modding work I will need to do.
I feel like you're putting too much into the mods, you're spending more on the rings and core than the cube.
What exact magnet size and strength do you need? You can get 50-100 ring magnets on amazon for $10 bucks, and a lot of times that's free shipping.
The core I can understand being expensive, but I think you would be better modding the core that comes with the cube (otherwise you have a ton of factory cores left over, which is just wasted money, or if you're planning on doing that just ignore me). Do you think you could 3d print a ball-core to fit on top of the factory core (BC would be easy to sell, it's very popular)? If you could do that you could probably find someone to print it and ship it to you if you cover the shipping and a few dollars for the effort (I'm sure you could find someone on these forums or on reddit).
I think you could get the maglev rings under $5 and the core under $10 per cube. Giving you an investment of $40 (giving you $5 for labor), if you could sell them for $50-60 each (which I think is reasonable), then you have $10-20 profit.
Additionally, I recommend buying a bulk amount of magnets, because with all of your product designs, you will be better off buying bulk (maybe 500) than rebuying them every time (speaking from experience in a semi-similar situation).
You also need professional pictures, that makes or breaks everything. I love your idea, so I'm willing to help with a couple things (I have no interest in earning money off of this, just seeing this be successful). I have the MGC 4x4, and professional photography equipment (I've been published in magazines), and I would have no problem sending you high-res pics to use. It gets (very) messy trying to use other stores' pictures of cubes and it can get you shut down immediately. If you're creative with your pictures, it can make you stand out a lot. When you are finished with development and close to making the listing, let me know and I'll send you a few standard pictures you can use (just of the MGC). With some time I can experiment with some eye-catching things (I have some neat lighting tricks I want to try out). Getting pictures of the mods you make is risky. Having a low-quality picture ruins your reputation and professionalism, but there might not be a way to take good pictures of the mod. In this case, virtual 3d models can be your best friend.
If you could find a source to make your own logo stickers, that would be awesome, you can get hundreds of stickers super cheap, it just might be hard to find a source that does custom sizes. This is another one of the things that makes you look very professional and reliable (the first priority to any customer).
