Thanks for reading my random raving
Strictly speaking I've been cubing (seriously) for 4 months, though I solved my first 2x2, 3x3, 4x4 and pyraminx 5 years ago. I used white cross LBL which was very painful to change. I am currently Z-neutral (blue or green in front).
It's hard to determine which method I use. I personally think the ideal stratrgy is to choose a baseline method and switch to others for different scrambles or even midway. By default I use Petrus, but sometimes change to X-cross CFOP, LEOR, YruRU (If CP), ZZ-d ,sometimes for no good reason. I'm also going to throw some BLE, WV, SV, CLS and CPLS in there, though only the good cases. I don't think I'll ever use full ZBLL because I have instant memory problems lol, but 2GLL would be nice, and could give me easy OH. Someday I'll try Roux.
As you can see I'm more interested in experimenting with methods instead of being very fast at any one of them. Fastest AO5 is 23 sec with freeFOP. I'm pretty sure I'll lose interest in a method once I get sub15. I have issues with fingertricks; for some reason my RU gen is slower than RUF gen (?). Odd thing is, though my left hand is clumsy IRL I have no problems switching hands mid-solve and sometimes use left as main also whimsically.
Main skills I'll have to improve on is EO recognition, CP recognition, short term memory (huge problem, I can't recall blind spots) lookahead and inspection. Basically anything to do with the brain huh.
My first project after entering this community is to find strategies and proto-algs for quick and efficient EO223 so ping me if anyone's already done it ORZ.
I hope I can fully understand commutators (make them up on the fly) and group theory someday.
My main is MoYu威龙v10 20球磁. Other cubes I have are just barely turnable.
I live in China, my VPN's down and I don't plan on replacing it soon because I only use it about once a month, so I have issues opening YouTube tutorials and google Docs alg sheets but that hasn't given me too much a problem.
I love this site. This is my ideal picture of an online community and I look forward to contributing to it.
