I need the community's help. For a long time I have trouble setting up my speedcube; mainly its lubrication.

I carefully clean up my cube by taking it apart, washing it, dring/cleaning with paper towel. Then I put it together, and use a few drops of lubrication, and break it in.

The trouble is, no matter what is my current speedcube and what lubrication I use, I always feel it slowing down after an hour or more. Like now, I feel an increased resistance when I start turning a side. It feels a bit sticky instead of smooth. If I put my finger against the side of a corner and start to push it, I actually feel I have to apply a relatively large force until it start to turn.

My current speedcube is a Moyu WRM v10 (unmodified, 20-Magnet Ball-Core + MagLev + UV, stickerless), on a tension setting of 2/2. As lubrication right now I tried fz rush; but previously I tried DNM-37, and before that fz calm. None of them feel like wonders, and I wouldn't describe the cube as "crazy fast". I tried oil based silicone sprays as well in the past (NOT wd-40).

But like I said, this applied to a lot of my cubes in the past as well. I question myself what I'm doing wrong, but I cannot find anything on the net about this issue. I know there are some amazing cubes, because I had a few in my hands that felt like rolling on ball bearings.

Not sure if it is because my cube is relatively old(?). I bought it in 2024 July, but I only practice cubing a few times every few days.

If you think I should get a new cube (and lube), what do you recommend? I want something crazy-super fast. I don't care if it's considered uncontrollable. Smooth M-moves are a huge plus (I use Roux).

Thank you so much.

The lubes you mentioned are not meant to be standalone lubes, but rather to combo with a silicone lube. Thin silicone lubes also wear out quickly. I suggest Lubest XMT 10, which is a fast, medium-viscosity silicone lube. XMT and FZ calm is a nice combo.
