Hey yall!

I’m Moon, and I needed some motivation and tips to grind cubing times and solves in preparation of 2 comps I’m going to, one of which is SEC 24.

Some of my mains goals for SEC 24 are:
-Sub 18 3x3 avg
-Sub 5 2x2 avg
-Sub 7 pyra avg
-Sub 33 OH avg
-Sub 2 min 5x5 avg
-Sub 1 min Sq-1 avg (even though cutoff is 45 seconds, hoping for a lucky solve)
-Sub 10 skewb avg
-Sub 16 clock avg

The rest of the events I’m competing in have not gotten goals yet.

Hopefully some of you guys will follow my journey! WHO’S EXCITED FOR SEC 2024!

Yo good luck! What do you currently average on OH? I’d love to coach you to sub 30 and beyond. I average 21 for reference. If you wanna gets some tips from me or a solve critique then PM me.

I would recommend to You to learn 7-simul. I was ussing begginer method and averaged around 13-11 seconds and now with 7-simul flip I average 10-9 seconds with many 8 seconds solves, If You can't do the pinky D move, then I recommend to You to learn 7-simul flip, because it didn't has any d moves.

Thanks for the tip! That’s roughly what I average now so hopefully it brings my times down, I’m trying to get to finals in a comp I’m going to soon!

Could you give me some tips for Clock? I started it today and average 35ish with Beginners with a 29.18 PB single and roughly 80% success rate. Thanks!

First I would maybe recommend to you to learn another method which is like the begginers method but it doesn't has any d moves, just at the beggining it has a d move, and it also has an order of pins
then do a lot of solves to get used to the clock, on how to turn accurate, and then you should get to sub 15 seconds in maybe 500 solves, that's how it was for me.
I would say to learn 7-simul once You know very well with this method, maybe around 10 seconds to switch to 7-simul

UPDATE: I know this has been a lot about Clock, (sorry) but I’ve been learning a beginner’s version of 7-simul! I won’t be using it at a comp I have this week with Clock, but I will definitely be using the method at SEC and Worlds!

Hey yall, sorry I haven’t been on in a while, but I have been really busy with finals. I’ve improved a lot in the past month, so my goals for SEC are changing (some of them):

Sub 17 3x3 avg
Sub 40 sq-1 avg
Sub 10 clock average

I’ll be a lot more active during this time now that all my finals are over, and hope yall will continue to follow me on the journey!

One thing: Anyone have tips on how to get faster at sq-1? I know beginners method and intermediate cubeshape and thats it.

Alright, a few updates:

I have been able to get sub 2 minutes every 15 solves in mega, which is an improvement!

I learned more tricks for intermediate cubeshape and working on alg learning.

UPDATE: I gave up 5x5 at SEC because I can’t get solves under cutoff.
