This forum is a unique collection of people from all around the world all with one common interest. I do quite a lot of traveling and when I go to a new country, I always wonder if there are any cubers around or if it is popular in that country.

I will be going to Vietnam and Australia this month and it made me think about whether cubers often meet up or do 'couch surfing' when they travel internationally for competitions or for business or leisure.

I am living in Tokyo and it would be great to meet up and show around any cubers who come here.

Have you ever met up with other cubers when in another state/country?

Was it a good experience?

Is simply having the same hobby enough for people from different countries to be friends?

Ever been to a competition?
If so then you already know the answer.
If you have not then, yes.

If you're at melbourne, we'd love to have you at a meetup.

I met up with cubers from another state.

Why not contact the Vietamese cubers directly: http://www.rubikvn.org/forum/ ?

Faz, I would love to meet up in Melbourne, I will be there from March 20th until early April. I'll keep an eye on the speedcubing in Melbourne thread.

I won't have enough time to meet up with Vietnamese cubers this time but I travel to about 4 or 5 countries every year so it is something I would like to do in the future.

I am a member of www.couchsurfing.org and it is a great site where members can stay at member's houses when they travel. I know there is a 'cuber's map' in the U.S but maybe we should make a google map that shows the location of cubers around the world.

While you're here, we can have a couple of more meetups than usual. Pity you aren't coming when the comp's on. Can't wait to meet you.
