Weekly Progress Report #1

New PBs (Won't be counting Ao25 because who cares about that): I might have lost track of some of these, but I'll do my best. 2x2 Ao100, 3x3 Ao50 & Ao100, 4x4 Ao50 & 100, 7x7 Ao12. Square 1 Ao12, 50, 100, 3x3 OH Single, Ao5, 12, 50, 100.

I didn't learn any algs, and still focused on 3x3, but I incorporated Sq-1, OH, and 4x4 with a little bit of 7x7. 3x3 Averages went down by less than a tenth but not that surprised there. 2x2 went well, but I only did one session all week with about 200 solves in it. Figured out some Sq-1 finger tricks for the algs I already know, but hope to learn some more algs over the weekend. I'll probably start with EO algs, and in the coming weeks I'll try learn Intermediate Cube Shape. I started incorporating F moves for OH PLL instead of D moves which definitely helped out a little in bringing my average down. My OH look ahead is really good but I simply can't turn too fast and I suck at rotating, so if I work on those I think I could average sub-15. 3x3 felt really good this week. I was planning 1st pair in the first few seconds, and a few months ago I didn't even plan it, I would just wing it. But now I know the next step is to plan 2nd pair, which I really don't want to learn. I won't learn anything for 3x3 as my brain has had enough and I want to get good at something else. Overall, it was a good week for me, with PBs in most of the events I like.

Weekly Progress Report #2

New Pbs: 2x2, Sq-1, Skewb, 4x4, 5x5, 7x7, 3x3 OH

I didn't learn any algs. Just did solves and I didn't learn anything. This week I am going to learn some Square-1 algs. For sure. And I hope to review some T-shaped ZBLLs. I want to practice more 7x7 and Sq-1 this week. My big cube look ahead just isn't the same as my 3x3, but I think that will come with practice.

Square one is fun. I finished learning beginners method about 3 week ago. About 2 weeks ago I started doing solves. The past 8 or/and 9 days I've been really into Square one and after learning some more algs, CO, EO, and CP + I'm now learning some EP algs for the bottom that way I don't have to switch layers during the solve. My times have dropped from 1:00 to 35-40 seconds and my pb from 49.xx to 19.63. I might learn all of EP pretty soon and also all the parity algs but I also think that I'll first try to FINALLY finish learning PLL on 3x3, I still have to learn the Rperms and Gperms I would also like to change my Na perm from the UDr to either R U R' U R U R' F' R U R' U' R' F R2 U' R' U2 R U' R or F' R U R' U' R' F R2 F U' R' U' R U F' R'. (I haven't decided yet, the first one is more finger trickable but the second is 5 moves shorter so I'm debating whether the 5-move difference make no.2 better than no. 1)

Square one was fun, until I realize the only way to get faster was to learn more algs
I personally think that learning algs for Square-1 is fun and much easier than learning 3x3 algs. Then again, I only know a little over 45 algs sooo...

edit: Parity isn't very fun to exacute and thee YLM m isn't the greatest I'm hoping to get the new MGC squan, It's supposed to be better than the Volt v2m

Weekly Progress Report #3

I finally learned some square-1 algs! I got my 3x3 PB Single. 33 moves in 3.56 Seconds which was awesome. I got PBs in 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, 5x5, 7x7, and Sq-1.
I learned 2 CS algs intuitively and 2 EO algs, and they were really easy. I didn't think Square-1 algs would be so simple to learn, although I didn't learn too many. I I have to do is look for the M2 and solve the rest intuitively until it becomes muscle memory. I switched back to the RS3 M 2020 for 3x3, for now. The Valk Elite feels flimpsy for some reason, even though it's supposed to be a stable cube. I know I can use stronger springs and magnets but the cube feels hollow and heavy to me. I will probably buy the original WRM as it seems like Moyu cubes have the perfect stability for me. Gan will probably not work well for me as I don't want an insanely fast cube. I can turn as fast as I want on the RS3 M without being careful, and this results in some lockups but from what I've heard the WRM has really good corner cutting. As for Sq-1 hardware, I won't get the MGC unless I feel like the cube I have (YLM) is badly affecting my times.
