Hey, so as a few of you may know, I'll be travelling around the US and seeing as many places as I can over the next 11 weeks, culminating in attending the US Nationals then heading up to Canada with a few other cubers for the Toronto Summer Open. I was basically making this thread because I currently have virtually no fixed plans at all and wanted some help in deciding what I should priorities. Some information about me - I'm 19 and from the UK, my main hobbies/interests are probably Cubing (obviously), Poker, Computers, Math(s), Socialising/Partying, amongst others. I'll be travelling all around the US on the Greyhound Bus system, and my current plan is roughly

May 25th - Fort Lauderdale, FL
Tampa, FL
June 13th - New Orleans, LA
Atlanta, GA
Asheville, NC
Nashville, TN
Memphis, TN
Quapaw, OK
Dallas, TX
Grand Canyon, AZ
Las Vegas, NV
~End of June- Los Angeles, CA
Big Sur, CA
San Francisco, CA
Yosemite National Park, CA
Portland, OR
Seattle, WA
Glacier National Park, MT
Yellowstone National Park, WY
Rapid City, SD
Minneapolis, MN
Chicago, IL
Flint, MI
Columbus, OH
Washington, DC
New York City, NY
5th August - Boston, MA
Toronto, Canada
18th August - SHEFFIELD UK

Firstly if there are any places that you guys think I'd find interesting, or any obvious tourist destinations that I'm missing, then let me know. Secondly, if anyone knows any competitions that fit with my rough plan then it would be cool to attend those. Also if anyone can recommend any good (cheap!) accomodation anywhere on my way, or in any of those places (or even offer a couch to crash on for a night :D) that would be awesome.

Looking forward to some good answers from you all,

Jude

(oh and if anyone is interested or wants to see where i am at any point then they can check out a blog I'm keeping of the trip here http://www.travelblog.org/Bloggers/JudeCW/ )

I just read what you've posted so far on your blog and I lol'd at the comment about driving. Yes, everyone drives. Silly Brits and public transportation. :p

Anyway, it's a shame that Texas isn't going to work out like we had originally hoped. I just obviously can't set up a competition while I'm away in Europe. :/ Well, at least I might get to see Joey while I'm there. :)

Oh, I'm also planning on going to Toronto for TOS after Nats as well. I'll be staying with Limeback and I think you and Rowan are staying with JJ, right? We'll obviously have to hang out that week too. See you at Nats! :D

If you are headed through Kansas I suggest Driving through the Flint Hills Uplands and The High Plains (according to the picture below[i also included a picture of the flint hills]). The Flint Hills are just amazing, and the High Plains (which also stretch into Colorado) is typically what non-Kansans think Kansas looks like.

also the Smokey Hills are similar to the Flint Hills although not as impressive. and I cant say much about the other parts of the state.

Sounds like you might be in the San Francisco Bay Area around the time of Berkeley Summer on July 11.

If you wanna play poker near LA, there are a couple 18+ year old Indian casinos within a 2 hour driving distance. I usually go to either Chumash or Morongo.

Damn that does look cool, but unfortunately I can't drive. I'm taking the bus everywhere :\

I think it might be a bit late but if I can shuffle things about I might be able to make it
