First and second pairs were really nice, I used the RUD commutator for first pair and I could predict where the second pair corner would be, then I used the CLS alg for that case because I didn't want to cube rotate.

I use a 1x1 I made myself. It's a light metal cuboid with stickers I put on it. The turning is extremely smooth and fast, and the corner cutting (positive and reverse) can reach up to 360 degrees.

nice. i use a dayan transparent 1x1. its set up with weight 5 in the core and mystic, weight 3, and dnm-37 on the peices
it has some catching problems, but i use it because i love the smooth feel. its very quiet.

I'm not sure when I will actually be sub-10 though, might take a few months.

You should've posted under a help thread, but I'll answer anyway.
You should learn a bit of advanced F2L, which solves bad F2L cases without cube rotating. Learn full PLL first because it only has 21 algs, then if you are about sub-20~25, learn full OLL. OLL has 57 algs, so they are a bit hard to take in at first, so learn slowly. An alg a day would be good (and then you can try doing the alg again and again until you get really familiar with it).

For a good 3x3 under $30 (USD), the RS3M 2020 would be pretty good. If you're looking for something better, you can also choose Weilong Gts3m, it's around 36 bucks.

Definitely sub-10 3x3, as that's what I'm currently trying to achieve. Sub-1 4x4 is easy, I don't have a good cube and I'm sub-1; I have no experience with 2x2 so I cant speak for that.

I learnt yau already, but I'm slow at making the first three pairs and the last 4 centers. I average slower on yau than redux lol.

oof my 4x4 is a really sucky one with lots of lockups. I'm not in a state to buy cubes either as I'm under quarantine right now, so a good 4x4 would not be here soon (I'm planning to buy an MGC).

That's a good idea, I've thought about it before. The only thing that's slower than yau is you won't have a finished cross. I guess I'll have to watch more videos on 323 because I only ever watched one video on yau so yeah. Thanks for the suggestions!
