History of every country's NR Single for every event - interactive project

Hi, some people know me here, but my name is Kari. I've spent the past couple months making this project on and off. But now, I am very very glad to present this. In this project, you can view the top 20 countries by 3x3 NR single at any point in time using an interactive timeline at the bottom of the screen. You can also choose which continents you want to see, whether it's all of them, comparing the times of two continents, or if you're just interested in your continent's history. It's not the nicest project, and it's not high quality, but I have always wanted to see something like this, so I made one lol. I hope other people can enjoy this kind of cubing stuff as much as I do!

I like it
Also cool that Romania is the 7th right now and SOMEHOW 2nd in Europe

it's good, but I'd love to see names and flags like Cube Roll / cubekyh does. Minh Thai's famous 22.95 on top, Feliks carrying Australia for like 14 years, Yusheng Du's legendary 3.47. Also it would give a better sense of time to go by day instead of jumping around dates. Previously I worked on a similar bar chart race manually animated in R with ggplot (silly) and I might try a python tk version

supposedly the olympic rings represent these continents

but I would do Europe blue, Asia red, idk about the others

Doing that, I would've had to make a row for every day with the website i was using. It's not perfect, and I'm definitely not an expert at computer stuff, but this is the best i can do lol ^^" and the colors of continents are the same as cube roll's videos. Names weren't really the goal of the project in the first place, it's just a rank of nations

Where are you able to obtain large amounts of WCA data? I haven’t been able to access many result categories, but I’m also looking for just larger amounts of data regarding competitor results and nationality. I’ve had an idea for awhile to apply GIS for visualizing such information, including competitor population distribution and even raster layers depicting official Ao5s, etc.

You can view the history of records, which is what I do, I just set it to each nation. You can also download the WCA database.

you can download the entire wca database or even query it with sql

so i may have gotten a bit excited and spent the last 9 days hyperfixating on this project and made the 2x2 version already. This one had around 72k cells compared to the 115k cells from the 3x3 data. but I am loving the final results of these so making them is worth it!

That's big data.

Kudos to your hard work,
Hope to see more data visualizations

otherwise really great work, love the creativity
