Help for an absolute beginner

I want to learn how to solve a rubik's cube reasonably fast (a minute or 2). First started this 2 days ago and now I can reliably solve the first 2 layers pretty quickly (just timed myself and got 1:25) but I can't figure out how to learn the last layer. I used an online guide (this one) and can complete the last layer by looking at it, but I can't for the life of me remember what algorithms to use and when to use them.

What do you guys think is the easiest way to learn the last layer that doesn't involve a bunch of algorithms?

Just write down the algorithms on a piece of paper then try to do them over and over and memorize them.

Maybe I got lucky with the 1:25 time because I just tried the first 2 layers again for time and got 2:15

hmm does it matter if I keep the cross on the top layer while I do the corners and don't turn it upside down until after I'm done with the first layer or will I be faster if I turn it upside down before I solve the corners like the guy in the video does?

Look up Dan Brown on youtube, he uses a very nice method which has gotten my 3x3x3 time to about 1min 35sec or so, on an unlubed cube

I don't think the Dan Brown method is any good, but it is watched so many times that the explanation must be good.

Hey I used to use the same method also for the Beginner method. After that I moved to 2 Look OLL and 2 lokk OLL from Badmephisto video, and then to Full PLL (but still on 50s average now, very bad), OLL still learning. Badmephisto and Arnaud video for beginner solution are good. I love your "sexy move" Arnaud

Badmephisto's tutorials are amazing.
Watch the intuitive F2L one too, that chopped my times down a lot.
