Hello everyone, I am Dave. I have been into cubing for quite a while (since 2015). My 3x3 average is around 20 seconds using CFOP, although I need to re-memorize some OLL and PLL algorithms I have forgotten over time, as I have come and gone from cubing several times. I can also solve the cube blindfolded, I haven’t timed my BLD solves much, but they’re typically around 3-4 minutes. I use commutators to solve it (BH method).
I am really into algorithms, both move sequences like conjugators and commutators, and computer-based solving algorithms like Kociemba and Thistlethwaite. I really enjoy the math behind them, especially group theory and related topics. Please let me know if there are any discussions on this. I would love to join in. I was amazed when it was discovered that God's Number for the 3x3 is 20. I hope that one day we'll find God's Number for larger puzzles, hopefully at least the 4x4!
I am also a programmer and am currently working on my own solver implementation. Right now, I have replicated Kociemba and Thistlethwaite algorithms in Python. I would love to share with you and hear your thoughts.
