Hello! I've been cubing for fun for a few months, but recently got interested in speed solving. I don't think I will ever be able to compete with you guys, but honestly for me it does not matter. I like the process of learning and practicing. And I am competing against past myself only - seeing my time improving brings me a lot of joy.

I like all kinds of puzzles and riddles. I am also an author of https://www.sudokumood.com/ - website for solving Sudoku. What do they say - turn your hobby into a job and you'll never have to work again 😂.

Hi there and welcome to the forums!

Sudoku is cool. What is your fastest average of 5 with it?

I don't have any. There are people that do try to track their personal best time, but most people don't. The time to solve heavily depends on several factors. Most important is the complexity of Sudoku. There are puzzles most people with a little of experience can solve in a minute or two. And then there are Sudoku puzzles which even pro-s will spend 10-20 minutes on. And casual players may stare at them for hours.

The next major factor is whether you (are allowed to) use pencil marks. Solving without pencil marks is much more difficult, especially if the Sudoku you are solving requires advanced techniques.

Less important, but also significant factor is the quality-of-life features your app offers you. Pencil and paper offer you nothing, of course :) .

The only reasonable metric in Sudoku competitions is how long it takes you to solve the very same puzzle compared to others, provided that you and the others solve it in the same conditions.
