has anyone ever just forgotten an alg even tho you've known it for a long while

I have forgotten so many algorithms that I have forgotten how many I have forgotten. :-)

I have known all OLLs at least three separate times - knowing them well enough to even be able to execute all of them OH or with feet. Each time I have eventually forgotten several of them, and usually I wind up having to learn different ones to get back to full OLL. Right now I am probably 7 or 8 short of full OLL, and that's after having relearned about 10 of them.

I have learned "good" G perms on several occasions. Every time after a few months or a year, I have forgotten them and gone back to the antislice ones, which for some reason I am able to remember consistently (despite them being very slow).

It seems I have to relearn parity algorithms for almost all puzzles at least once every few years.

I actually forgot how to execute a Sune in a competition once. (I remember James LaChance didn't believe me when I told him it happened. "How can anyone forget Sune?") It took me close to a minute to recall how to do it again.

It's ridiculous.

I used Jb perm to swap corners and one day I just blanked on it. The more I tried to remember it the more my fingers forgot how to do it until I actually had to look it up and relearn it. This was after doing it hundreds of times.

I've forgotten whole CLL after I lost my 2x2x2
It is a good idea to keep your favorite algs in some notebook or app/site so you will not have to choose them again
OLL
has the most cases so its cases occurs less often. It leads to forgetting this less usable algs. So I would advise to do OLL time attacks as they consume less time to train because not everyone have time to do hundred or two of solves

I forget some of my PLL/OLL algs everynow and then, but it is easy for me to relern them.

I have forgotten way more than what I know. For example, I learned full T, U, and Sune ZBLL in the past, but it's all a fuzzy vague mess in my head now. I think the only alg set I am 100% confident I will not forget in my lifetime is PLL, since I spent way too much time grinding that (if anyone remembers that lol)
