So, I just randomly had this idea for a fun competition. The idea is to take a 3x3 scramble, and you can solve it however you want to. You can use AI to find the best solution, or just find a fast solution yourself- the idea is to get the fastest time possible with the scramble. I am not super good at organizing things, so some help with this would be appreciated! Here are the rules I have come up with so far.

-I will provide the scramble. I figured we could use my PB scramble, just so that it's not a horrible scramble. It has a solved 2x2x1 on yellow.

-If you want to compete, you will need to submit a video of your solve. It is kind of hard to cheat at something like this, so as long as you can show all 6 sides of the cube are scrambled correctly, and preferably have the timer visibly running during the solve, then that should be good enough for my purposes.

-The solve should be on stackmat. Since the downsolves will probably get fast, using the spacebar could allow you to have much faster pickup speed.

-Here is the scramble: U L D F' L D R F' R2 U2 D' R2 U' R2 F2 U' B2 L2 R

I wanted to make it interesting and throw in a prize as well, so if this ends up happening, I will provide a 10$ gift card to TheCubicle. If you win, and you live far away from TheCubicle, I could probably get a gift card to a different puzzle store, as long as they provide that service.

I will repeat, this is still just an idea and nothing is settled yet! This thread is just to discuss setting it up. If it does happen, making a separate thread for submissions would be a good idea.

If you have questions, ideas, or even criticisms, PLEASE TELL ME!

So would you have to submit your first solution, or would you be able to play around and find the fastest solution and then record the video of you speedsolving it

Fun idea! One thing: when doing downsolves, it often takes a lot of attempts to get something reasonably good. If you have to film each of them and show the sides everytime, that might get extremely time-consuming. I don't know if this will really be a problem, and if it is, I don't really have a good solution for it, but I thought I'd just put it out here.

my idea was, take as many attempts as you need, explore as many solutions as you want; just post your best solve, and that's what's entered. as long as you have one good and verifiable solve, you can enter with it

edit: also, you don't have to post all of your slower attempts, but for convenience's sake, once you have submitted your time, there is no going back, so make sure you get one you are really happy with

Yes i understand but I meant that each of the solves can be extremely fast and so you have to show each side to the camera before each attempt which can start to annoy you after a while

Also I already got 3.73 lol

oh, i kind of misunderstood. Yeah, it's just hard to officiate. I don't think anyone would cheat, but you never know, 10$ is 10$ lol

If this is just a test, maybe in the future we could make a thread about finding a scramble reasonably easy/hard and comparably good for the Big 4 methods.
Not that this scramble isn't already good, just saying that IF this gets repeated and is going to be a bigger thing.

ok, i guess we can then! so right now we have:

NmeCuber
Cubinginatree
Jorian Meeuse
ruffleduck
Thom S. (?)
hyn (?)

6 people is over the goal so that seems good to me. by the way, i'm not participating because that would be silly if i won my own money
Sounds good! Also I know I won't win so do I have to still film my solves?
EDIT: My best is 7.32
EDIT EDIT: I just got a 6.95

no, i'd only need a video of the winner. if you're just competing for fun, which it totally fine, then you won't need a video, but if you are contending for the prize then i'll need a video
