ii first started out 4x4 with the traditional reduction method, and i quickly grew from there. Then i found this method. I currently averge 1:40 on it i i would like to get faster and improve my average. So if you have any tips/tricks, please reply to this thread!

Get good at f2c inspection, because you ideally want to plan all of first center at your level, and tracking 1-2 yellow pieces while solving

Learn how to keep the white center+3 cross edges so that the U face isn’t blocked all of the time. Doing this forces you to learn how to solve centers more efficiently with Yau in comparison to Redux

A Focus on Smooth l8E is better than a Focus on Fast l8E

I think you're still at the point where you can improve pretty quickly by just practicing. When you're just starting out, you need practice to get used to the rhythm of the new method.
That being said, personally I think that the Yau edges are the most critical part of the Yau method (on 4x4 and bigger cubes). It's the part of my solves I try to focus on the most, so I think it's worth being extra conscious about lookahead during this step (especially as someone just starting with Yau). For me, it's very easy to fumble and have big pauses.
